This is a stunning nature photograph which would certainly have gone down extremely well on TrekNature, I'm sure. I really cannot understand why I am the very first person to write a critique on this beautiful picture.
The light is stunning as it "backlights" the bird and brings out some wonderful details in its plumage and almost illuminates its orange beak.
Beautiful strong light (with which you have coped exceedingly well), fine true colours and exceptional details and sharpness.
P.S. Just a little word. As I said above, I really can't understand why no-one has so far commented upon this picture which, I am sure, most would agree is indeed wonderful. But I think, perhaps, I can.
The trouble is that TE is probably more of a "social" site than a purely photographic one, so people do tend to make "pals" and do tend to comment on the pictures of those people who write nice things about their pictures too. I've been here on TE now for over eight years and have thoroughly enjoyed every moment: I've made friends and have also made the effort to meet up with at least a dozen people from this site - which has also been a very rewarding experience. So what I am trying to say is that people really do appreciate it when others comment or write critiques on their pictures - and they do tend to respond by commenting on yours too. That's not at all trying to condone "backslapping" - the horrid trend of writing praise about pictures which are awful in the hope that lots of people will write glowing comments on your own dismal efforts - but there is a sort of camaraderie which exists here which I think is really good and also unique to TE. So regular critiquing is good! And I must say that I think that I have learned an awful ot over my eight years here, not only about photography but also about the World in general. So, while not in the least trying to canvass critiques on my pictures, I would gently encourage you to try more to look at others' photographs and comment upon them.
And, by the way, I'm sure that if I were to submit this picture to my local camera club's nature competition, it would be very well accepted!
Oh - another thing - you never know, perhaps we might meet up sometime for a photo meeting - I was at one with some TE friends in Sussex just last week - good fun, lots of grub, nice wine and a few photos into the bargain!
