Here is the second shot taken from the gallery in the dome of St Paul's Cathedral. This time the Shard, 87-storey skyscraper, was my subject with an interesting street life placed in the foreground.
The Shard's construction began in March 2009 and inaugurated on 5 July 2012. The glass-clad pyramidal tower has 72 habitable floors, with a viewing gallery and open-air observation deck – the UK's highest – on the 72nd floor, at a height of 244.3 metres. It was designed by the Italian architect Renzo Piano. Source: Wikipedia

This was a very good place to take this picture of London with the Shard dominating the scene. There is excellent clarity all through this picture. I like the red buses, blue cab and the green square in the FG as they add FG interest and balance the composition. Beautifully sharp and well exposed image.
Kind Regards, Ann

Swietny kadr i kompozycja!

Now you have shown the world the entire view of London, from the elevated position of St. Paul's. It is a great follow on from your previous shot. You have even been able to create a strong composition with the f/g street cutting across diagonally, on the thirds line and the Shard strongly placed!
The exposure is excellent. The details are sharp and accessible.
Have a great day,

The red double-deckers immediately reveals where this picture was taken. It is very interesting to see this example of modern architecture in the London sky-line. A very fine picture!

Hi Gosia! Great picture of London! I had never seen it from that pov! Very nice! The Shard really stands out in that urban environment ! Sharpness, exposure, colors, vertical format and composition are all excellent! Tfs! Cheers! Neyvan

another inspiring shot from St Paul's that is both amazingly sharp as well as clear. I have not been up to the outside gallery of St Paul's for years and used to have my lunch on the cathedral steps when I worked in London a few years ago. Your images from here have whet my appetite for a visit. This one is awesome!
Enjoy your Sunday - B.

Witaj Gosia, this is a postcard pretty interesting view of this old town, beautifully captured in this wonderful photograph. Interesting image with good pov and framing, good sharpness, depth and quality. A great job well done, congratulations my friend. Thanks for sharing this beautiful work.
Good evening and happy start to the week.
Warm greetings from southern Spain.

A beautiful lively cityscape, the inclusion of the foreground is a brilliant idea, giving scale and adding such great color with the red buses, green park and even that little blue car which really stands out! Gives me a great appreciation for the scale of the city, and the height of the shard.
The shard is a tall one alright, and strangely, being a fan of skyscrapers I am not that fond of the building. You present it beautifully here as it rises like a beacon above the city, but I get the impression this building will age badly. But regardless of that, this is a shot the architect of the place would be proud to see
All the best

One of the most clear panorama views about London that I see on TE.
Everything is equally sharp, all buildings are perfect recognizable
Excellent perspective and depth picture.
A very well composition, excellent presentation nice captured.
Very well done, TFS.
Have a nice Sunday,

Quel beau gratte ciel.

kolejna udana fotografia z Londynu.
photoray (10519) 2014-03-02 9:46
Interesting view from St. Paul's dome with a crowded modernistic rectangular sea of buildings, double decker red buses, then the more attractive Shard rising above it all, with a dramatic cloud backdrop.
Thanks for sharing,

i'm really enjoying your photos from here.
So much so that i'm dying to get up here myself ASAP even though i live in Canada :)
love the little blue car in the lower fg, probably a taxi.
very cool views of the city.
so much to look at and be interested in.

Thanks and best wishes!

A brillant photo of London. I really enjoy the contrast between old an new. The Square below the Cathedral with the double-deckers is defintively London while the high rise Buildings could be anywhere but still very characteristic of the new London with constantly changing skyline. TFS and have a nice Sunday evening!

Excellent neat picture capturing the smallest details.
Overall effect is superb.

Witaj Gosia, Widzę, ze Ty sporo jeździsz an takie city break - krótkie wyjazdy do jednego miejsca.
subhendu_bagchi (25318) 2014-03-03 2:22
wow, it is a beautiful one. You did your job nicely with perfect light and great depth. A very well composed wide angle frame from height where we can enjoy the complete town, litterally! Great shot.

Hello Gosia - Another excellent shot of London taken from a super vantage point. Not only do we see the Shard pushing up into the sky but we see those older London icons too.... the buses! London under a fine sky, what a pleasure to see. Warm regards rosemary

Hello Gosia. London. The view from above shows us so many details. The dramatic towers in the background are of course a particularly eye-catching. Good technical quality.
ChrisJ (94842) 2014-03-14 14:08
If I had had more time in London I would have gone to both the lookout depicted here at St Pauls dome and the new observation deck at the top of the Shard tower. Nice repetition of the distinctive red buses in the street that contrast well against the blue tones. Good sharpness too. Tfs!
josepmarin (57591) 2014-04-11 0:18
this high POV offers us a fantastic view on the city, with a nice mixture of architectural styles, in which I can enjoy the elegant slenderness of the skyscraper in background.
The graphical effect of the buildings of the city, the vitality provided by several red double-deckers, and the dramatic cloudy sky, give a high quality into your photo.
A splendid work.
