Photographer's Note
Taken at the Tate Modern in an area themed as 'Structure and Clarity' in the 'Minimalism' room. This steel, aluminium and perspex work of art is by Donald Judd (1980).
A grab shot with little time for checking exposure etc. I hope that this appeals to some of you.

Superb combination of colour and composition with good sharp edges make this a very dramatic and eye catching photograph Ann. Love the graduated light effect from top to bottom.

Hi Ann
love the Tate Modern and do not get up to London as much as I should to appreciate it fully. When I lived in London and worked in Borough High Street a stones throw away the old Power Station was still a hollow shell. Like your creativity here the human element makes it work so beautifully. Clever and observant imagery! Minimalist versus Complex. ;-)

Hi Ann
I really like the idea and simple compostion. There are some stories to be told there... "loneliness in face of modernity", "this is taller than me"...
Best wishes
Kasia

Ciao Ann!
Splendida immagine! Magnifica composizione, perfetta!

Hello Ann,
I like this rather "graphic" shot. In fact, I like it rather a lot!
The composition is excellent and delightfully pleasing, the tall artwork on the left being perfectly balanced by the man holding his child and even the grid in the floor on which he is standing. The man is clearly studying the tall row of shelves (or whatever they are) while the child is probably more interested in other people in the gallery - or perhaps even that strange lady with a camera.
Despite what you say about this being a quick "grab" shot, your exposure is spot-on and the lighting is good - I presume there was some lighting through high windows in the gallery. Lovely colours and excellent details and sharpness.
Excellent!
Kind Regards,
John.

Ciao Ann,
Bravissima.
Ciao e buona serata

Hi Ann
I think this will appeal to most of us :)
why wouldn't it :)
this is one of those times where Claude and Gert are correct, and having that human presence really does affect the scene in a positive way - I hate it when they're right! haha
such a simple but smart way to create great height in a scene.
well done
cheers

Hello Ann - A striking composition, the simplicity of which calls for close examination and is where the shot succeeds or fails visually. You have the perfect balance here with the negative space emphasising the height of the art work. The grid that the man is standing on is a nice detail echoing the shape and rhythm of the sculpture. Nicely seen and presented. Take care and warm regards rosemary

Hello Ann,
minimalism can be sometimes much more expressive than any other rich in details photo. And you achieved definitely such effect here. We´re not distracted by too many details, but this is exactly what makes your composition so exceptional.Well observed and excellently executed. Also you catched the best timing to immortalize this scene.
Have a nice weekend

Bonjour Ann
The Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA) in Brisbane, Australia, has been favourably compared with the Tate Gallery in the UK, so it's nice to see an image from there. Good sharpness and the warm skin colours of the baby contrast well against the blue tones throughout the rest of this image. Good sharpness and graphism. Tfs!

Hi Ann,
The Tate Modern, one of my favorite museums in the world, in the top 5 for sure.
A very fresh way to present visitors in this kind of environment. I like the interaction between your subjects and the work of art, their distance and the contrast of dimensions that creates a visual stress.
A minimalist composition that suits the atmosphere of your image, artsy in its own right.
Excellent!

Hello Ann
I have had quite a few "run ins" with people in various galleries for taking shots of the exhibits - usually they don't allow you so I can understand why you needed to graba quick shot. Having said that the composition here is very fortunate given the lack of time you had. It has a great compositional balance and I like the way the man with the baby is standing on the air vent (?) almost like it was put there for him. The way the child is looking away whilst the man is looking at the exhibit adds opportunity for further interpretation. I bet the youngster is thinking "that's a load of cooker hoods stuck to the wall - wait til you see what I can do with my lego"!

Hello Ann,
I have a lot of photos to catch up on since I disappeared from TE. For the moment this one caught my eye because of its strong graphical quality. Well composed, I like the juxtaposition of the human element and the architectural (although a work of art rather than a building).
best regards,
Bev
