Photographer's Note
Early morning sun on three of the most popular things that currently grace the City of London, England. Walls and lampposts have always been in abundance, but with more and more skyscrapers being built in this great City, the skyline seems to be peppered with cranes of all shapes and sizes. The awesome Shard, the latest addition to the London skyline clear evidence of the numerous ongoing building projects.

Hello Brian ,
The perspective and the composition are excellent . As you say , you've chosen to show us the modern buildings, with other interesting elements . The lateral warm light is another great feature of teh shot .

Hello Brian, now that is a clever combination, I imagine that you could have found a way not to include the cranes, but as it is their bright red outlines add a great deal to an already thoroughly enjoyable scene.
A fine piece of photography.
Cheers Les.

Hello Brian - A super shot of an ever changing London skyline. Attractive warm light bathes the scene and as always you have a found a good POV and composed a shot with strong lines. I like the inclusion of the greenery and the few red blooms, they echo nicely with the red cranes and add a good organic contrast to the buildings. Have a great weekend. Rosemary

Hello Brian,
The Shard looks really great. It reminds me to some degree The TransAmerica Pyramid building in San Francisco.Beautiful, modern and avangard looking skyscraper. And apart from the stunning architecture for me the most captivating feature of your composition is definitely the light. So nice and warm.It creates so nice mood and helps to increase the color saturation.
Have a nice day

Hi Brian,
I like this vertical "from stone and across water to glass" picture, and the sunlit foreground...
Didn't you add some gradient effect to the sky? Nice anyway!
Best regards,
Fred

Hello Brian,
A very cleverly composed image making excellent use of the three elements you mention in your note to draw the viewer into the scene. Lovely warm light and tones, not at all what you would normally expect to see in London. Love the shadow play and the excellent detail. Fine photography indeed. Have a pleasant weekend.

I have to imagine that's a building that has its share of critics, Brian, but I can certainly tell you're not one of them - you've had several really lovely shots of it. This one, from a nice POV across the Thames, places the building into nice context.

Ciao Brian
ottima idea la diagonale con il muro, porta lo sguardo direttamente al centro dell'immagine dove troviamo una serie di soggetti verticali messi in evidenza dalla scelta del taglio verticale della foto.

Good morning Brian,
I think the 'early' capture is the key to your success, here. You have a marvellous light, with contrasting shadows and the place is your own. It's not easy to get a shot without people in London!
Not many would have seen this as a photographic opportunity but you have really nailed it; terrfic leads, fine textures and excellent links between the rising verticals.
Have a lovely day,
Bev :-)

Hello Brian,
Sorry I've not been critiquing for the past couple of days but I had a spot of bother with my internet connection - hopefully I've managed to resolve that now! Not a virus this time, but probably my own silly fault by trying to install a "wireless extender" to the network in the house and getting mixed up with WPA/WPA2 and AES/TKIP and other totally incomprehensible jargon!
A lovely "warm" photograph, the August sunshine giving a lovely golden hue to all the wonderful colours here. Your composition is excellent, the tall spire of the Shard placed perfectly in the frame and the red cranes on the right, together with the smart lamppost to the left of it, balancing perfectly. And a good "lead in" from the wall on the right.
Glorious colours, perfect exposure and stunning sharpness.
Beautiful!
Kind Regards,
John.
