Photographer's Note
Merry Christmas My Friends. I trust you will all be close to family and friends.. Fot those who do do Celebrate Christmas has a wonderful festive season.
As we know Tower Bridge is the famous Bridge that opens and closes to let the Tall ships through...
Tower Bridge (built 1886-1894) is a combined bascule and suspension bridge in London, England, over the River Thames. It is close to the Tower of London, from which it takes its name.[1] It has become an iconic symbol of London.
The bridge consists of two towers tied together at the upper level by means of two horizontal walkways, designed to withstand the horizontal forces exerted by the suspended sections of the bridge on the landward sides of the towers. The vertical component of the forces in the suspended sections and the vertical reactions of the two walkways are carried by the two robust towers. The bascule pivots and operating machinery are housed in the base of each tower. The bridge's present colour scheme dates from 1977, when it was painted red, white and blue for the Queen's Silver Jubilee. Originally it was painted a chocolate brown colour.[2]
Tower Bridge is sometimes mistakenly referred to as London Bridge,[3] which is the next bridge upstream.
The nearest London Underground station is Tower Hill on the Circle and District Lines, and the nearest Docklands Light Railway station is Tower Gateway.[4]

Hello Rich,
The festooned Christmas makes an apt and interesting frame for the bridge and is nicely balanced by the boat. The image is well presented with good colours and sharpness. Happy Christmas to you and yours.

Hi Richard,
classica, ma sempre bella immagine della Tower Bridge di Londra.
Ottimo l'inserimento dell'albero decorato sulla sinistra, mostrandone il periodo natalizio.
Buon Natale anche a te e alla tua famiglia.

Hello Richard,
This is a wonderfully festive capture of this iconic bridge. I love the Christmas tree at far left with its baubles - just a pity it wasn't festooned with lights, so you'll have to return soon and take another picture at night!
Good composition too: I like the boat appearing from the right side (even with a little Christmas tree on its prow) and which directs our view toward the bridge.
Fine colours and excellent sharpness too.
Lovely!
Kind Regards,
John.
P.S. Do have a Very Happy Christmas yourself, Richard. And are we to be meeting up some time in the New Year? That would be fabulous because I think my liver has just about recovered from the Cumbrian meeting!

Hi dear Rich,
Nice view of the Tower Bridge with a Christmas tree as a frame. Funny glue colour of lines, mnatches well the glass. Pity there is no snow and blue sky. Anyway, pleasant shot to look at it. And the sharpness is very good, I think you used Unsharp Mask :). Merry Christmas to you! Will you spend it in Lock keeper's Cottage?
My yesterday post with Bethlehem Star was very soon removed as a common object without a note.
Warm regards my English friend

Hi Richard
From wikipedia:
A popular urban legend is that in 1968, Robert McCulloch, the purchaser of the old London Bridge that was later shipped to Lake Havasu City, Arizona, believed that he was in fact buying Tower Bridge. This was denied by McCulloch himself and has been debunked by Ivan Luckin, the vendor of the bridge.
The Xmas tree in the FG gives that festive context to the scene.
Dark sky also sets a different mood!
Season's greetings

Hello Richard,
How wonderfully festive the Thames looks. A grey looking river surrounded by bright colours - super!
Have a really good Christmas - I will be in touch.
Best wishes, Ann

hello Rich,
you have chosen a seasonal foreground to this classic London landmark. I know exactly where you took this as my husband and I had a meal at a restaurant there when we were last in London. There is a very ugly hotel across the way and too close to this lovely bridge (the architect should be shot!).I like the colours here, the bright baubles, the orange on the boat and the blue on the bridge work well together to lift the murky colour of the water.
best wishes and a happy Christmas,
Bev

Hello Richard,
a magnificent overlapping of the Christmas tree and the Tower Bridge in London, which forms a beautiful Christmas card. A good control of the exposure, with a good result in the quality of the light and of the colors, in spite of the cloudy day.
My best wishes for you and your family in this Christmas.

Hello dear Rich
What a beautiful photo to accompany your lovely greetings to us. Thank you very much for your critique of my photo, more particularly, the sentiments expressed therein. You are very kind and I am so lucky to have you as my friend. Your photography has improved so noticeably over the last year, it is always a pleasure to view your photos and read your Notes. I hope by now, you are sitting down to a nice hot meal with loved ones and that you eat and drink too much. We here have stuffed ourselves with cold seafood and ham on a very hot day. So it's nice to relax in the cooler afternoon. Take care dear friend and I hope that 2012 brings you every happiness.
Warm regards
Lisa

Hi Richard,
The bridge is well placed in the frame. The point of view is allowing me to distinguish the details and colors of the Tower bridge. The afternoon light is giving a good contrast to the colors. Have a nice day.
