Photographer’s Note
Happy New Year 2005 Everyone!!
This is my first post for the year and the start of a new series of mine, which I want to call 2 for 1. Where I captured 2 famous sites in 1 photograph. :-)
This is my first post in the series.
In the forefront is the Tower of London and in the back is the Swiss Re Building. Its nice combination of Old and Brand New in my opinion. Also I really liked the flag clearly visible with the wind blowing just in the right direction.
The Swiss Re Building is the first environmentally friendly building in London. The shape of the building maximises the amount of light and ventilation, reducing the amount of energy the building consumes.
The Tower of London has served many purposes over the years. It has housed the Monarchs of the past, it was where Sir Walter Raleigh was kept prisoner, it was also the place where a few of Britains Queens have been beheaded and now it serves as a tourist attraction and now houses the Crown Jewels. It also has 7 ravens, looked after by a Ravenkeeper. He feeds them and clips their wings so they cannot fly away. It is said that if the Ravens were to leave the tower, the monarchy would fall and britain would fall in the hands of the enemy.
Hope you like this picture.
Critiques / Comments / Workshops / More info on either of the towers is most welcome.

Good capture of the two and very well seen too, I like the flag too swaying.
I would just lighten it up a tad
Well done

Hi Dinyar, long time ago, happy new year. London, the city specially for photographers, splendid the three old towers with the modern glass tower between the other, nice composition with great colours and many details.
Thanks for comment and sharing.
Greetings John.

Happy New Year, Dinyar. Looks like you also were in London recently - welcome back with this fine piece of old+new, with the Swiss Re building (which I found locals nicknamed "gherkin") nicely seen amidst the dignified old spires of the Tower of London. The slightly overcast but still mainly blue sky makes a good background for this one, and the flag also stands out well against the architectural backdrop. Well seen and captured.

Oh - great to see your "been around" - and a fine double (triple) shot to start the series - I would have liked the union jack a bit to the left - but never mind - good work Dinyar and a Happy New Year to you.

Well Dinyar, this looked strange at the first glance and now I see what it is. I wonder how big the distance is between the two towers.
