Photographer's Note
A DOUBLEDUTCH OF st. Pauls cathedral
DOUBLE DUTCH
UP TILL NOW: INFORMAL talk or writing that is nonsense or that you cannot understand
FROM NOW ON: Photo with reflection in alvaraalto-style.
More Dutch in the English language:
The English used to hold the Dutch in very low regard, on account of the hostilities between their two countries in the 17th century. As a consequence of the previous antagonism, there are numerous English phrases which portray Dutch items in a poor light:
Dutch comfort = cold comfort
Dutch concert = pandemonium
Dutch courage = the courage of drink
Dutch crossing = crossing the street slant wise
Dutch treat = each pays for their own expenses
Going Dutch = sharing the bill
Double-Dutch is also the name of a children's skipping game, in which two ropes are used.

Bonsoir Rob,
L'idée du dédoublement de l'image est supert et sa réalisation bien faite. L'effet miroir augment la perspective.
Bonne soirée

Hi Rob,
a good play with the mirror and the old buildings in a very alvaraalto style, as you well write. The dull day was not a problem here and you got a pleasant exposure. The fine details complete the composition. I like it and thanks for the note :)

Hola Rob.
Excellent reflection, very original shot, great sharpness, and POV. Your frame is perfect. Despite the cloudy day you were able to manage lights very well. Excellent composition.
Best regards.

Hi Rob,
Very interesting view of the cathedral. The vertical format, the original POV and the smartly and ably done composition are the greatest highlights here. Well done!
Thanks for sharing,
Darek

Hi Rob,
Great idea. I expect that it might turn up photos taken by other TE members with reflection in alvaraalto-style. Just for fun I made a search in the internet for St Paul's Cathedral reflections and to my surprise the very first picture was very similar to yours. This proves that when you believe that you have taken an unsusal or even unique picture. Somebody else has seen the same thing. It has happen to me many times.
I really like your photo and consider it a genuine Alvaraalto while the other picture must be a copy
! TFS and have a nice evening!
Cheers,
Ulf

Bonjour,
belle photo de cette double eglise, ces réflections sont de toute beauté, prendre le réelle et son reflet est toujours une jolie photo quand on la prend comme vous l' avez pris en longueur avec cette suite de vitre.

Hello Rob,
What a fabulous "double-dutch." I remember well your triple reflection, sent in as a repost, and this is evocative of that extraordinary image. The Dutch Golden Age is a period that all can envy — Rembrandt, Vermeer, Christian Huygens, Leuwenhoeck, Lipperchet... among them. Thanks for the short English-Dutch Lexicon in your note.
Warm regards,
Bulent

Hi Rob.
So when something is confusing we can now call it double English ;-). Nice catch but I think I now have double vision! Good work and thanks for sharing.
Cheers, Paul.

Dag Rob,
Bedankt.
Groeten uit Vlaanderen,
