Photographer's Note

In 1675 king Charles II commanded to build the Greenwich Royal Observatory as we see here on the hill from it's surrounding parc.
On an international conference in 1884 it was decided that the Prime Meridian as a basis for longitude was situated in this observatory. (see my previous poost).

In 1833 a rd time ball was instald upon the building by John Pond.
Every day at 13.00 GMT the ball drops, allowing everyone to set his or hers clock.
