Likewise Strasbourg on my previous upload, London's King's Cross is also a classic railway station that has received some modern facelift. A new semi-circular departures concourse was opened to the public in March 2012. The semi-circular building has a radius of 54 metres and over 2000 triangular roof panels, half of which are glass. 1852 opened King's Cross station is the southern terminus of the East Coast Main Line, and major connection to North-eastern parts of the county.

WOW! Splendid architecture and illuminated in a beautiful colour!
From your well chosen POV we get a great view of the many curved lines which form that semi-circle.
Best regards, Paul

lots of triangles, lots of geometry going on here.
I think the choice of angle and pov really makes the difference. I'm not here of course, but i would think if you photographed this head-on-straight, it wouldn't nearly have the same graphics and impact.
cool to see the large swoop!

Although I live near London I have not seen this modern and very graphic structure. The sweeping, clean lines have been well taken and it is good to see some of the station below. A fascinating place - TFS.
Kind Regards, Ann

This is a very interesting and attractive modern structure with elegant curves and triangles. The light is also fine and well handled by you. At the ground-level we see that the rest of the station is like it used to be.
This reminds me of my very first Albanian hotel. It looked so nice from outside with a facade of very elegantly curving green glass. It was just that inside not much could have changed since the days of Enver Hoxha. Well, it was clean anyway and there was hot water, but I still felt cheated.

Whoa, immediate visual impact! A bit of a mind bender this is, what a neat and enticing display of form and style. I'm sure this would be impressive regardless of color, but the gentle purple hue sets a soothing tone...which is probably no coincidence in a high traffic area such as this! :) Love this composition, the focal point is placed superbly as this artwork expands out in twisting fashion, looking as if it's going to envelop the entire station. Great to see something new and unexpected! Have a great day ahead.
Thanks for linking me to those additional images from your notes today. I agree, tough to do from a moving object, but if it works itself out, they can sure make for some vivid imagery!

What a coincidence that I had my eye on this photo to critique (rather, to admire) yesterday. I read your intro, got distracted with something else and then started nodding off in front of the screen and went to bed without coming back to this photo. In the mean time, you found one of my photos! The soft magenta color, the beautiful curvature and the geometric patterns are what attracted me to this photo first.
I'll take this opportunity to respond to your intro: I like what you say under Style?, I guess I am a bit like that - I enjoy taking photos of anything and everything, and my gallery tends to be eclectic. I completely agree with 4 of your 5 turn-offs, though I realize "overdone" is a relative term. If, by "partial desaturation," you mean selected objects in color on B&W photographs (or vice versa), then that is where I disagree.
Best wishes in your eclectic photo endeavors,

This is a very cool design architecturally for a train Station and a fine image you captured. The inclusion of the people gives good impression of the place and the pattern and lines give strong depth and perspective. You can also make one without the people which would be more of a modern abstract image. Excellent quality image. I love it.

Awesome architecture! So massive and it looks like a vortex about ready to swallow the passengers. Good lighting considering you were only using available light and good details. Well done, tfs.

Amazing capture with strong graphical impact on us Kari!
Really fascinating structure of the roof and here illuminated by so nice and moody light becomes a fascinating subject for your photo.I like also the way you composed and framed the scene.

A spectacular view of the massive geometric pattern of King's Cross Station, very aesthetically pleasing.
Our recent California rail station designs are not as spectacular, so I am impressed.
Nicely composed and created,

Marvellous repetition of the geometric patterns and shapes formed by the giant drinking straw sculptures. Good contrast with excellent density and shadow detail with a good exposure on the highlights. The crowds add scale and context. Tfs!

Hi Kari !!
stunning steel structure which you capture exceptionally well........ and with partial darkness it has a special visual effect.
Cheers from Australia.

A very inspiring architecture and a good POV on it. I am not sure I would have included the people in the bottom of the picture anyway.
Have a nice week end,

Now this is my kind of shot! I love the pattern and the coloured light that shines on the structure. Great POV and well composed! Love it!

Interesting architecture, well presented with this format, perfect sharpness and good result with this coloured light.

You really chose a splendid point of view to shoot this, it emphasizes the shapes and lines perfectly. Including the busy ground scene gives wondful scale. This is a fascinating architectural scene, and a place I am really pleased to learn of thanks to your gallery.
All the best

Bella immagine davvero!!
