Good Morning Everyone,
My post, today, shows an ancient, Roman arch in the city of Lincoln. (It is remarkable that as a city expands, such relics remain.) It is nearly 2,000 years old and is the only Roman arch, in Britain, still allowing the use of transport. For that reason, I waited patiently for the access of a bus. As you can see, it will not allow the access of a double decker!
For a short, interesting history of the arch, please click here .
With Roman remnants, an ancient castle, a beautiful cathedral and quaint, olde world shops, Lincoln is a place well worth visiting.
Many thanks for stopping by, Bev :-)

A fine capture of this ancient archway still very much in use. The detail in the old stones is very nicely rendered with good colours and sharpness. I like the framing offered by the elegant lamp. Have a good day.

Un bon cliché lumineux de cette ancienne porte avec à droite le passage pour les piétons je suppose. Celà aurait dommage de la détruire pour faciliter la circulation.
Merci pour le partage et bonne journée.

This is a fine shot of this ancient archway. The use of the van to create contrast and a sense of direction is well chosen. The angle of the shot is nice creating depth for the scene. The lighting and colors are great and the photo has fine sharpness.

The Romans really knew how to build! A very impressive arch. The inclusion of a modern vehicle makes the picture even better. I like your note (and link) too.

Quite a contrast between the old historic Roman arch and the modern vechiles.
The colors here are very clear and true and the richly textured Roman architecture stands out brilliantly agains the lovely blue sky.

with our recent posts we share the interest for our heritage and you have written an interesting note to accompany this beautiful capture of the arch. The contrast between the modern bus and the old wall is wonderful. The photographer’s perspective is excellent. I also like the management of the light! TFS!

nice the composition with the new and the old in a perfect coexist.I like the view of the passing by car under of the 2000 years old Roman arch.Obviously ancient Roman would not imagine that in England will exist double deckers to make it more higher.I'm joking of course.Excellent the light and colour management.
Have a good afternoon,Danos

Yes, what a contrast! This car under these venerable old stones. This arch really seems to be built for eternity. In combination with your note and the link a contribution truly in terms of TE.
Greetings from cool but sunny Germany!

Thanks for presenting such an old and unique historic and architectural monument! You have captured it with the highest quality and very interesting composition, where the bus is included absolutely appropriately to show that the arch is still in use. Perfectly well done!
