There's an old First Nations saying that - to be a member of the tribe (full human being) is to bring all the gifts of who you are to the fire - the place where you share commonality, warmth and social life with others - this image was taken at the Mela last year in the town of Loughborough - an event I had the great pleasure to stage manage - this young woman brought her gifts of movement, expressiveness and beauty to the fire but what I see in her face also is fearlessness, confidence, pride, achievement, joy, compassion and intelligence......a pretty young woman..... a pretty amazing young woman living her birth rights to these things as a human being.....and that is what events like this Mela are - places where people bring the fuller expressions and gifts of who they are and gift them to their tribe, their community, where people take time to recognise each other more fully as human beings instead of labels....so not just my pleasure but my great joy to enable things like this to happen......that's my gift to the tribe........my hope and optimism re: humanity.
Once again many thanks to the wonderful family of friends and fellow photographers who have made this such a wonderful place to share.
best wishes Kev

Yes, she is incredibly beautiful. As are your own words. And soul... The photography is very good. The light that glows from her face is priceless. That deep black hair, the hands expression, the look. Really amazing portrait. You really are one of the best around capturing the essence of people on film (or cf). Thanks. See you soon.

Before reading your note, I could already see what you were trying to express with the photo as the first thoughts when I looked at it were pretty, confident, happy.
Recognising people for who they are instead of labels is how I live my life. I like to consider each new person I meet my friend unless they choose not to be.

This one hits home with me Kev, Ive been to many a hippy party back home and its always refreshing to see young beautiful women such as this not sucked into the materalistic side of fashion. Such strong eyes which dominate the shot, she demands our attention here.

Yesterday I came here and looked at this picture. I was quite amazed, Kev... I didn't write you a comment yesterday because I wanted to think a little bit about it...
First of all... I just love the girl. She's so beautiful, so NATURALLY beautiful that she makes me stunned and mesmerized. The moment you've captured, as if she was dancing, is extraordinary. I can literaly see the fire in her eyes. Fire and joy.
I don't know how would it look like in color. I like your B&W conversion but I think that her hair are partially to dark and because of the high contrast the picture lost some of the smooth transitions between the tones.
I would love to see the colour version as well as more pictures of this beautiful lady

I like this one as I like all your street's portraits...
Here, is a very interesting woman. Her attitude and your composition are very alive.
Best regards. Grazyna.

One of the many faces of Loughborough. Lovely pose caught, and the quality showing off the value of the 5D.
I see you posted this about a week ago, does that mean you're out of the country again. I just got back yesterday. I wonder if we'll ever coincide for a pint. I'm here for 10 days now.
