Photographer’s Note

I am a long term friend of a musician called Dave Faulks - Dave is a Ska performer - usually working with a saxophonist and a backing track - big in pubs and clubs and out door events - he used to play with the band Showaddywaddy and his sax players also have an impressive track record of well known bands behind them.

This shot was taken in the upstairs room of my local pub - Dave's duo (sometimes a trio) were performing as Ska-Amanga - at some point during the performance all the lights went down and this gentleman stood up from the audience and came to the stage - and intoned:

"Hey you, don't watch that, watch this
This is the heavy heavy monster sound
The nutsiest sound around
So if you've come in off the street
And you're beginning to feel the heat
Well listen buster
You'd better start to move your feet
One step beyond"

...and then the 'band' took off.........

For all the world, a voice I recognised from the original Madness record...or...was it Dave and Ansell Collins? No, they were black Jamaicans! I am just getting too old to remember......but that voice......

............who was that mystery man?
