Good Morning Everyone,
When I saw this man cycling merrily along the deserted sea front at Southport, I was immediately reminded of Queen's hit song, 'Bicycle Race'.
Bicycle, bicycle, bicycle,
I want to ride my bicycle, bicycle, bicycle.
I want to ride my bicycle
I want to ride my bike
I want to ride my bicycle
I want to ride it where I like.
It does seem an unlikely subject for a hit song but then, that's Queen! I love to listen to their music.
I hope you all have a happy, bicycling, Sunday, Bev :-)

An excelent low-tide scenery, Beverly, with the "framing" by the long pier stretched out to sea.
The man on his bikes added a magnificent sense of movement to the scene.
Nicely spotted and well applied.
Have a nice Sunday,

Hello Bev - Today my thoughts are quite subdued and your shot works in tandem with my feelings; a man alone with his thoughts, letting the sea air blow away his solitude as he pedals onwards. A beautiful palette of harmonious colours in this strongly composed shot. Top class! Warm regards Rosemary

An excellent one
I like the mild light and the pastel colors, well in agreement with the general mood
Nice cloudy sky
Well composed with this very attractive pier at BG and the biker
Biker and house well placed at the golden points of compo
have a nice sunday, best regards

I have a lot of respect to people who ride on the bikes almost the whole year and do not care of the weather. Probably, this man is one of them. Great image taken with superb sense of the moment to achieve such a nice composition. Superb title submitted! TFS!

Great shot of this man on his bicycle; perfect position riding into the frame. I like the strong lines which support and balance the image.

Not an activity I can partake in I'm afraid, I never learnt to ride a bicycle when I was young having been brought up in Liverpool City centre. You have composed the shot very well with the cyclist ideally placed and allowing for an interesting convergence between the shoreline and the pier. The lovely sky contributes much to the atmosphere and engenders a very agreeable light.

foto semplicissima ed eppure composta a perfezione e con una ripresa di paesaggio particolarmente carattersitica per la presenza della bassa marea.
Indovinata anche la presenza del ciclista che ravviva la fotografia. Eccellenti i colori.
Ciao e buona domenica

Splendid scene, beautiful seascape with nice pastel tones. I like it!
Have a nice Sunday,

la presenza della persona in bicicletta è fondamentale per la bella riuscita della composizione.
Bello il paesaggio, ma sicuramente monotono senza il dinamismo dell'uomo.
Piacevole il cielo, con le nuvole molto scenografiche.

I love the framing on this and how you have created the triangle of inside the sea with the bridge and the beach, and of course the bike is a great lively interest too. The sky looks superb!
I must smile when I see the white line that the man is cycling on, it looks like perhaps he has just hit the turbo button and has left a stream of speed in his wake. Perhaps this is a missing scene from Back to the Future :)
All the best

I do not know this song but I like the picture anyway. It seems to be quite calm here so I assume the ride must have been enjoyable. A fine picture with this angle between the shore and the pier and the biker at the right place.
rychem (37325) 2013-12-08 8:31
Excellent composition, diagonal lines, the biker is very well placed, nice association with the song, a very good photo
annjackman (21899) 2013-12-08 9:26
I am a fan of the music of Queen and your title took me straight to their song! I like the gentle colours and excellent positioning of the cyclist on diagonals. A composition that really works very well.
Kind Regards, Ann

nice the view of this traquil place with the lonely cyclist to be placed perfect in the frame.I like the light and the colour management of the image as the song that escort the man.
holmertz (54235) 2013-12-08 9:52
You captured the man at pretty much the perfect moment, when he was well placed inside the frame. The area may be flat and rather plain, but the strong diagonal of the beach, balanced by the straight line of the pier, makes this a very appealing composition. The light is well used and I also iike the contrasts of the mainly brownish lower part and the blue and white sky.
PaulVDV (29527) 2013-12-08 12:23
Not a bicycle path for at high tide, I assume.
Excellently composed with the line of the pier opposite the diagonal line that divides the beach from the bicycle path.
The biker is placed on the ideal place on the picture.
Best regards, Paul

A very good daily life shot, with a good accompanying note. You have captured the scene with perfect timing just when the cyclist was entering the frame. I like your composition, which includes a good perspective of the bridge, and of course, the diagonal line of the sea front crossing the image. The man is well placed on the left side, riding into the scene. Excellent capture. Well done.
timecapturer (49288) 2013-12-09 3:33
a great song to accompany a wonderful shot. Love the motive here and the simplicity makes it all the more compelling and effective. Great diagonals and wonderfully expressive lines and shapes that add something special to the image. Really like it.
Enjoy a good week - B.
Still cannot access the forums :-(. You asked about the colours in my post today, not a great deal of post processing on this one. I think the long focal length and low watery sunshine has given the image an almost hazy feel. Not sure. Strangely I thought the white cliffs looked decidedly bland and dirty compared to my previous visits to this beautiful place. Summer light I expect makes them glow a bit more. Thanks for your comments and interest always appreciated. B.

Hello Bev,I do like the composition with such good being made of the vertical corners and the pier nicely placed across the scene.
There is a distinctly seasonal feel about the shot with the cyclist well wrapped up and the beach totally deserted.
Kind regards Les.

I am together with my wife really great bikers, everyday, but not the big trips during winter, 20 à 25 km is enough for old people as we.
But everyday becomes more dangerous with all the cars , sometimes we are afraid
These picture creates depth and perspective..
Colours and sharpness are perfect.
Very well composition, nice captured.
Well done, TFS.
Have a nice week,
Cricri (120491) 2013-12-09 4:53
Une belle scène a marée basse ou le cycliste profite de ce moment, tout en prenant un bon bol d'air marin, bon cadrage avec la structure en arrière plan
Glint (6171) 2013-12-09 8:29
an image nicely anchored by the cyclist. Interesting horizon with the pier following its line. Strong diagonal lines too help this composition. There' something about the light and sharpness that makes me feel I am there standing where you stood.

Ciao Bev, lovely composition with mar on bike, superb sky, excellent perspective, splendid light and wonderful colors, very well done, my friend, ciao Silvio

Nice, simple composition: less is again more. I guess the Queen song was inevitable. But how about trying Syd Barrett's "Bike"? In Pink Floyd's first indie incarnation.
boa (7411) 2013-12-09 13:16
a good title and note for this picture. (I also like Queen, especially their early albums)This man seems to have a pleasant day with his bicycle at the beach.(and who knows which song he has in his mind:) )
I like the "clean" impression in this scene, no people around and he have a perfect position in this composition, well done!
Have a nice evening.
jcpix (13930) 2013-12-09 16:02
Working in a Queen song, kudos! :) Haha, I knew John (jhm) would appreciate this shot as a bike rider himself.
Really liking how you put this together, the angled path and straight horizon has naturally created an nice big triangular shape. It would have been well done regardless, but the inclusion of the biker adds another level of interest and that hint of motion...even in a still shot!? :)
I'm quite taken in by thet sky too, the cloud formations and that shade of blue is just gorgeous, especially as its reflection adds some color to the earthy foreground. A seemingly routine setting transformed into a pleasing result. Wonderful realization of your surroundings to capture this moment in passing.
mkamionka (37787) 2013-12-11 6:47
nice beach but the biker indeed is a highlight here. He adds so much interest and action! I like the geometry with diagonally placed beach and the pier in the distance. Blue reflections of the sky in the water add a nice touch here.
Very well seen and captured,

hello bev. how nice that you made me sing the song :) a beautiful end of september photo, looks rather cold and refreshing. i like your composition with the long pier replacing the horizon line, and the bicycle racer is on the perfect spot to complete your composition. brown & blue always make a nice couple in photos.
COSTANTINO (66166) 2013-12-13 3:25
lovely scenery with the man and the bicycle
everybody must have a bicycle for transportation
and not a car
I liked the colors of this amazing landscpe

sorry for getting back to you a bit late, but you know i'll get back to you at some point :)
wonderful look to the photo, and i'm slowly learning that having the 'human' presence in the scene actually can be very beneficial...damn you Gert lol
of course i can't comment on this photo without commenting on the cloud coverage - its amazing and it adds so much depth, really like that aspect.
see you around!
Kielia (24077) 2014-01-03 8:15
you are presenting a pleasant impression of this dynamic gentleman enjoying a peaceful day by the sea in a gentle light. The composition is really successful. My compliments also for the accompanying song. It is really appropriate!
May 2014 be a pleasant and enjoyable year full of good health!
