Good Morning Everyone,
This photograph was taken in my home village, which, as you can see is quite rural.
I never cease to be amazed by the resourcefulness of the farmers.
Farm Signs can be quite expensive so, here, a local farmer has used an old milk churn to advertise his farm.
Before the days of bottled milk, the farmers used to bring the milk around the village in these large churns. People would bring their own jugs and the milkman would dispense the milk in volumes of 1, 1/2 or 1/3 of a pint.
I just love the idea that these old milk churns have been given a new lease of life.
Thumbs up to the farmers!
Have a great day, Bev :-)

A very pleasant image
A splendid sky, an excellent clarity and luminosity on this typical british landscape, natural colors and the clever use of this old rusty milk churn as the FG
Well thought and done
have a nice day, best regards

Funny detail, a nice original ad work there. Well taken, have a fine day ahead.

Great ingenious use of the milk can.
Whoever has done this has a hidden potential to excel in marketing. In India we have packet and bottle milks but we still have milkmen going to the customer with these huge milk cans to deliver milk.
Very well spotted and taken. You have captured this old rusty milk can hanging with a nice backdrop of rolling green fields. Thanks for sharing.

This is an interesting and very attractive photo. It tells me something about the world, or at least a very small part of it, and it does so in a strong and eye-catching composition. The farmer showed creativeness in using the milk churn as a sign, you did equally well in seeing the potential of a good photo. The nice background contributes greatly to making this so appealing.

love this! Quintessentially English this and a superbly imaginative shot. Express Dairies milk churn - now that is a blast from the past and almost an artefact. You live in a beautiful part of England as this wonderfully original shot shows. Superb image Bev, just wish I had thought of it.

hello Beverley ,
What an original idea for a farm sign ! I have some churns like this , because my wife'sparents were farmers and milk producters . Sometimes , they are used to put the umbrellas , of as flower jars .
The picture is excellent , with a fine sky and a superb rural landcape in the BG .

A fine example of imaginative recycling! A well presented image with excellent colours and clarity. Is it still possible to buy milk direct at the farm, or have H&S regulations stepped in to prevent it?

L'annonce utilisé par le fermier pour annoncer sa ferme est originale et sert très bien le sujet. Ce que j'aime ici, c'est la place qu'elle prend dans le paysage autour. L'ensemble est d'une grande netteté.

The previous picture I commented on (by "pajaran") was taken a day after this one, in another part of Europe. But they have something in common; agriculture! This is another aspect of farming, a very good picture with a beautiful countryside background. Has the Google yellow man passed this road?

An original thought by the owner, Beverly, says a lot about his trade.
Superbly placed the churn against the partly cloudy sky on far back.

a very charming farm sign and very innovative. Especially in these days when everything should be recycled:) The rural backdrop is very beautiful and it is easy to understand why you are pride of your home village. As i mentioned before, it would be lovely to
drive my antique motorcycle in such nice surroundings, tfs!

We all hear how farmers are tight, but this takes recycling a bit far, pity the poor person who gets banged on the head with this, while quietly going up the lane on a bike or similar, maybe the postman hey?
Well managed and presented, great fun photo.

indeed an interesting one. You composed it nicely with sharp focus on foreground subject with a slightly blurry background. I enjoyed the atmosphere. Nice tonal quality and very fine use of shallow depth of field made it more interesting. Very good one. Tfs.

A new life for this old churn, a good idea for the antiques fair.

I love this shot Bev. A simple vertical composition but one that has oodles of appeal for me. Clean, crisp and beautifully managed this is a wonderful rural scene. Warm regards Rosemary

Yes indeed, this is much more characteristic and certainly more cost efficient than a large scale, professionally made sign which serves the same purpose. In fact, I would be much more inclined to frequent a place which had this kind of local appeal and creativity to advertise. It has that home-grown charm that can't be produced in any other manner.
I love this eye level point of view with the old churn, resting gently over the peaceful landscape in the distance. Great cloud formations too, adding that extra "umph" to the scene. Super colors and textures, but most of all...a relaxed atmosphere and local pride abound. Hard work being a farmer, and I for one, appreciate their dedication and service! You've also brought life back into this old rust bucket, and for that, we say "thanks!" :) Have a wonderful weekend. All the best.

This is a very lovely shot. The kind of photo that show us the way of life and rural landscape, not only that it shows us the small town charming quality with this old milk container as a street sign and informative notes. No need for electric sign like in big city :)
anyway, a very good quality photo, good sharpness and clarity, even the rusty texture on the metal container is nicely captured.

And my first idea was about the fire bell, for example. ;) Original photo work, small but very interesting detail of their rural life. Clever composition, excellent colors of the background. Good report from a farm ;)
Have a great WE!

It's not so expensive and it's much more original and in harmony with the landscape. I like it, maybe because I'm so fond of the rural world:)! Good shot,I like the composition with the landscape in background.
