Photographer's Note
Good Morning and a Happy New Year to Everyone,
This is one of my favourite spots. The walks are interesting and there is almost always a view of Pendle Hill, seen in the distance, with its strong connections to the Lancashire Witches.
The photograph seemed perfect for the New Year; a time for contemplation, a time to decide which path to take. Not a bad decision, really, but one where the options still need to be studied.
Thank you for stopping by to share my photograph, Bev :-)

Bonjour Beverly,
En effet le temps des fêtes, c'est le temps de revenir sur la dernière année et de prendre des résolutions pour la nouvelle année. Cette photo raconte une histoire. Le cadrage est très bien pensé.
Bonne année 2013

Hello Bev,
This is a very well considered and also an excellent post for today: today of all days should be the one when we contemplate which path to take for the coming year.
A very well composed shot too with Len perfectly placed in the frame and also well framed himself by the two heavy posts in the near foreground. And, of course, we as viewers immediately mimick his line of sight too as we settle on the beauty of the distant hills, trees and townships.
Lovely true colours, perfect exposure and excellent details and clarity.
I wish you and Len and your family a Very Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year!
Kind Regards,
John.

Good evening Beverly,
Walking through the magnificent green hills, in rural country, must be most enlighting experience.
Fine taken photo, as the old man stood and stared over far on the horizon, a camera in hand(?)waiting for the right moment...
Lovely.
My best greetings,
Ike

Hi Bev,
This is a very beautiful landscape and a fantastic view! There is a very good depth here, thanks to the big logs (?). An inclusion of people always improves a picture. In this green landscape, blue is as good eye-catcher as red can be. All you need is a deviating colour.
Best wishes for 2013

Hello Beverley,
I like this very nicely composed picture, where the well placed man (good for you he just happened to be there) provides very good depth. It's a great view of a nice and idyllic scenery of a lovely day in autumn which still looks almost like summer. There is a wonderful brightness which to me indicates a very fresh air.
Kind regards,
Gert

Happy New Year Bev,
I do so like your contemplative notes and mood captured in this shot. I like the framing of the image through the gateway or fence posts and the various angles playing against each other in the gently sloping countryside. Hoping the New Year holds all good things for you with camera in hand
regards

Hi Bev.
Very beautiful this great panorama, captured in a nice POV with these rocks and wooden poles in the foreground, which increases the large image perspective, these beautiful landscape with rolling hills covered with trees, the image of Mr. contemplating landscape is a vital touch to the composition.
Excellent lighting and colorful. Well done.
All the best in this year just begun.
Warm regards.
Luis.

Hello Bev
And a Happy New Year to you too! A nice photograph to celebrate the turn of the year with us as well. I like the framing the stile(?) gives, and the weather was very kind on that day. Beautiful clarity in the far distance. And is that the Old Man having a brown study moment?

Hello Bev
Happy New Year and thanks for the welcome back.
I like the use of the posts to frame the shot and the way the eye follows in from left to right - first to the person and then on to Pendle Hill.
I have a book about the Lancashire Witches - it's a fascinating history in those parts.
I have friends in a band who wrote a song called Pendle Hill - you might like it:

Hello Bev,
You have already been busy in the New Year posting photos on Trekearth. This one immediately caught my eye. The rolling hills in Lancashire are most inviting. In this photo you've framed the subject well between the two posts. I hope that the New Year has started out well for you.
Warm regards,
Bulent
