Another cold day in N.E. Lancashire! Winter normality has returned!
Today I am posting a shot which I took in October.
It is a curious place! I have very rarely seen terraced houses built in the middle of a field before! The planning laws are very strict in this country and 'green belt land' is fiercely protected from development! Possibly there were other buildings there before, maybe part of a farm, or an old mill which took advantage of the water supply! Whatever, these houses command very beautiful views!
I took the shot from the balcony of a nearby pub called The Fisherman's Retreat! The pub is also in a very rural setting but has been built next to a fishing lake. I wonder how many fishermen have been to the pub first and ended up having an early bath!

The contrasts between yellow facades and sky are very attractive in your photo. Adding huge buildings in the middle of field is disturbs your panoramic view before the double colored ridge is creating a very nice scene. But any way, its your view. Very good works, congratulations.

A beautiful view from the pub balcony!
very good exposure and focus from a bright and sunny day like this that brings good colouration as well!

Lots of rooms and lots of view, indeed, Beverley. And I had to chuckle about the prospect of that early bath. Interesting to speculate on the houses, too. Perhaps they predate the planning laws and thus are what we call "grandfathered" in this country -- not subject to the new regulations, except in case of demolition or renovation, because they were already there? Planned development has come fairly lately to many of these United States, and it's still all too common to see "starter castles" or "McMansions" in what were lately cornfields. We're getting better at infill and preserving greenspace, but progress in this area doesn't happen overnight.
I like the color, detail, clarity and framing in this image of yours, Beverley. And I think I like best the composition, with the clouds peeking over the diagonal line of the hillside.

A simple photo composition, but large in amplitude. An exuberant viewpoint, such training to support geographic, and a very beautiful act arquitéctonica in the foreground.
Great balance in the frame

Beautiful light to capture this lovely contrasting scene between the lush countryside and the urban like row houses.
The green hills look wonderful against the vivid blue sky.
