Photographer's Note
Good Morning Everyone,
My photograph, today, continues the tour of Colne, a market town in Lancashire.
Here, you can very clearly see the rows of terraced houses that were built to house the many workers from the cotton mills. The houses were small, neatly kept and all with small, flagged backyards, each surrounded by a high wall, where the toilet and the coal store were to be found.
In the background you will be able to see the tall clock tower of the town hall and to its right, the square, tower of St Bartholomew's Church, the oldest building in the area, begun in the 10th century.
Many thanks for stopping by.
I hope you enjoyed this view of Bonny Colne, Bev :-)

Hello Bev
Well is this Colne, Lancashire or Coronation Street, Weatherfield?! And the sun is shining - unusual!
I love the rows of terraced houses and the texture of the roof tiles to the left. Nice panoramic shot. I'm going to attempt my first ever panorama by stitching two shots together today. If it works I'll post it tomorrow.
TFS - have a good day.

Hi Bev
nicely executed panorama this. I love the symmetry of the terraced houses and the way you have composed the image with complementary diagonals that just entice and work so effectively. Excellent!

Hello Bev
I like the wide angled panoramic format. Good sharpness & the repetitive patterns of the rooftops are eye-catching. A nice warm cold cold contrast between the red & blue with good light contrasts and framing. I might have cropped the chimney far left but it does add depth. Tfs!

Bonjour Beverly
J'aime beaucoup le format de l'image qui nous offre une belle vue panoramique sur ces maisons toutes semblables alignées comme du linge sur une corde. Une très belle netteté.
Amicalement

There is a returning pattern on the small town roof-tops, Beverly.
Managed here a wonderful vierw above the skyline, under fine bright day.
Good evening,

Hi Bev,
These quite typical British buildings provide a very good pattern with the long lines of roofs and chimneys. The church at the middle is also having an important role in the picture. I clicked on the picture with a hope to see the large version, but in vain...
Kind regards

Hi Beverley,
Interesting notes on this town... I was actually looking at a photo of Coine only the other day. [old magazine]
Nice vantage point you have captured a very sharp & detailed image of the style of housing & all complimented by the soft blue sky.
Kindest regards,
Dawn.

Hi Bev
ah....so here we have the horizontal/pano type of compo this time.
Personally, I would have cropped out the tall vertical on the far left, but it can also be seen as an anchor - so its just a matter of personal taste i suppose.
I love the addition of the angular rooftop on the left, its like an introduction to how the rooftops look.
and the compo in the bg of the homes is very smart.
but maybe i'm not so smart for asking - what do you mean by 'flagged' backyards.
We don't have that terminology here.
nice shot
cheers

Hi Beverley!
Attractive urban & architecture picture!
Sharpness, exposure, colors, horizontal & panoramical format, slim black borders, chosen pov, contrasts and composition really pleased me! It deserved a larger version!
TFS - congrats,
Cheers,

Hello Beverley,
You're capturing well this collective housing for the employees of cotton mills by a good angle and excellent tone/clarity, so it's interesting and impressive to see the two-story long and slender building by which the standard was carried out. It's also impressive in the chimney in a roof. Also in Japan, although the apartment for employees is seen well, it is an upper-layers building to a slight degree. However, I think that the collective housing in Britain which sees with this photograph is structurally functional, and tasteful. And, it is impressive as the church which is back visible is overlooking the whole town.
Kind regards,
mikio
