The Duck Coop
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
The Kent countryside has many beautiful old country houses, many of which have small ponds. In the past ponds such as this might have been used to rear carp and ducks for the table. Nowadays, however, the fish in this pond are pets and so are the ducks!
When I took this shot I wanted to try and capture both the floating duck coop as well as the amazing dragon-looking plant in the foreground, hence using F14 @ 1/15s (focal length 28mm/1.6 crop camera). There was a lovely reflection on the water made by the trees at the end of the pond which seemed to form a diamond-type shape, with the coop sat in the middle. The shape also seemed to compliment the slope of the roof of the barn to the right and I feel it all seemed to fit well together.

Well done.

The British countryside is at it best during May IMO. All the colours appear so fresh and vibrant. The plant in the FG is a Gunnera (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gunnera) and can grow to an extraordinary size. Lovely peaceful scene with some fine reflections and rich colours.
Best regards, Roberto
