Late afternoon autumn light warms the walls and colours of the ruined medieval castle at Scotney in the garden of England that is the county of Kent. The castle tower and old ruined surrounds reflected in the still waters of the moat.

A famous scene, and none the worse for that. The light and the reflections are the features that make this image so appealing: late afternoon I guess?

Although the wweather has not been kind to us photographers of late, you never cease to amaze me with the variety of wonderful photographs you must have stashed away in your archives!
You have, of course, shown us pictures of Scotney Castle before, but this is another "take" on this magnificent structure. The warm autumn afternoon light adds to the beauty, bringing out all the details, colours and textures of the ancient stonework and the reflections in the calm and inky water are simply stunning.
A fine composition with lovely light and colours and exquisite detail and clarity.

Ive no idea why, but seeing this made me think of the old TV show Through The Keyhole. So would live in a castle liiikeee thiiiiiisss.... Certainly not me anyway, my 3 bed semi is a far cry from this fairytale looking structure. I love the combination of the Tudor touches of the main building alongside the norman looking design of the main curved structure. And of course, all of this under perfect light and with a fine reflection makes for a very beautiful shot.
Thanks again, I always love seeing new castles
All the best

Belle photo!

Good to include all of the reflection, an omission I often made when first starting out. Excellent symmetrical reflections of the castle walls and superb color contrasts and saturation. The yellow green ivy in particular stands out well against the blue sky. Bon weekend!

I can assure you this wasn't taken in Canada! We don't have many buildings like this one.
Can't you just see yourself sitting here quietly enjoying the scenery waiting for the perfect lighting conditions to come along! I know I can.
a castle with a bit of a rustic feel to it, excellent sharpness and definition in the stonework.
love the subject! Castles are at the top of my list!
