Early morning light on the isolated little church of St Thomas a Becket at Fairfield on Romney Marsh in Kent England. Set in a field on Walland Marsh you have to avoid the grazing sheep, and their numerous deposits, to get to this red bricked little church, which is a Grade I listed building that dates from the 13th century. At 7am on a sunny June morning, with just the sound of sheep and a gentle breeze, this is a place that just has to be experienced for its blissful tranquillity alone.

Nice composition ! A great light for a beautiful church
Reflections in the water are great and the river guides our look to the subject
Very well done

I like the upright format with the inclusion of the sunlit reeds in the FG and the pretty church`s reflection in the dyke.
The early summer light is just perfect for the subject and you have used it to perfection.
A very attractive shot.
All the best Les.

I visited this little church several times when we were living at Ashford. It is really delightful especially when seen under a lovely warm light such as you encountered here. A very fine capture with superb colours and sharpness.

It seems to be so tranquil and peaceful!
PS.I´m glad to hear you´re safe and sound after last storm(I didn´t realize at first it was so bad in England until I saw it on TV news)

A lovely diagonal composition where the elements are strongly positioned and you are able to make effective use of those fine reflections.
Although some may suggest this is over-saturated, it is like a painter who develops his own particular style and this is your chosen style which is recognisable and very pleasing.
Have a great day,

Je dois avouer que cette photo attire le regard dans la galerie.Le ruisseau forme une belle diagonale en premier plan et la petite église brille de tous ses feux sous une lumière remarquable.

This picture is beautiful due to the composition and, us usual, to the very nice colors. The vertical format is a very good choice.

I like the clarity of the undisturbed fg water, allowing us to see the water weeds within. The diagonal adds dynamism as well as perspective and lead in lines, and the piece de resistance is undoubtedly the striking warm cold color contrast between the yellow green vegetation, the red brick church, and the blue sky and reflected blue skylight! Tfs.

wow! It is just like a picture postcard Brian. You got the frame very well as a dreamland. The cottage is nice and the top of it reflected in water beautifully. Superb shot as ever. Tfs.

very cute little church and you managed to catch all its charm. Good POV to show it with its surroundings and the river adds a lot to the image. LOvely colors, saturated and warm and good light.
Thanks for sharing

anytime you can produce a photo with those rust-reds with a sweet contrasting blue skyline like that you just have to go for it!
then you add in all the greens too, very tranquil and picturesque.
glad to hear you're all right, and that the large tree didn't come crashing down.

I'm not really sure which word best describes this scene, I want to say "hearty" but I'm not positive that's quite the one. To me it looks like something right out of the American Midwest farmlands mixed with the traditional English countryside. Whatever the case, it's very warm and gentle with that "blue collar" kind of feel...you know, the hard working, honest, all in a good days work, down to earth sort of vibe.
Love this color pallet too, very natural and strong...and of course, that early morning light...ahhhh, just right to sit back and watch the day begin. Top notch shot my friend. Enjoy the day ahead, I hope it starts as well as this one looks!
Cheers from the sunny side,
Loved your notes today, another laugh provided to the commentary...great titles! :)

Nice vertical framing. The ancient church looks great despite the time. Sharp image.

Très belle composition verticale. On reconnait tout de suite ton style de photos par les lumière,les couleurs et la qualité de l'image.

This is gorgeous Brian. The warm-toned little church is so beautiful with its distinctive up-turned roof and squat tower. I don't remember ever seeing a church quite like this in England before. And its setting is so peaceful looking next to the river. A wonderful slice of English history and landscape. Warm regards Rosemary

The tranquility that you mention oozes out of this glorious picture. Gorgeous colours and a very fine view point. It is wonderful that such places still exist in England.
Kind Regards, Ann

Wow! What a charming capture of this isolated little church! Love the way you took it by placing the river in the foreground including an eye-catching vegetation and soft water reflection of the building. The perfectly managed colors built a superb stunning view. Bravo! TFS.
CLODO (26450) 2013-11-02 3:14
A well thought image with a reseached framing, the reddish hues of the roof and wall (over saturation?) bursting out of the cold (blue and green) nature colors.
npecanhuk (56368) 2013-11-04 17:35
I really like this one too!
Lovely and pleasant-looking location!
Attractive and beautiful picture!
Sharpness, exposure, colors, vertical format, chosen pov and composition with those reflections are all excellent!
TFS - congrats,
