Dawn breaks on a lovingly cared for coastguard cottage named "Prospect Cottage" lying just inland from the shingle beach in Dungeness, Kent, England.

Prospect Dawn - sounds like the latest sci-fi epic! Very well composed shot with lovely golden tones of the morning light here. Very sharp and detailed.

This stump and the plants on the FG diversifies your composition. Wonderful colours
and the cottage on the BG completes the whole composition. Well done.
Have a nice weekend.

This is spectacular, I mean not what you did buy how you did it :)
Fantastic composition with the lovely foreground: these plants sso well emphasized and the stones adding some texture. The house seems so tiny next to it. I like this surprising perspective. The light is amazing too of course.

another nice catch Brian. The pre dawn environment is nice to watch, nice blue sky at top. The illuminated cottage is a nice point of attraction of your image along with the tree at foreground. Great colours. Very good shot. Tfs.

Ciao e buon fine settimana

I've been away for a couple of weeks so now just catching up on some critiquing - sorry to have missed this and others of yours recently!
You really do excel at your beach and seaside shots and I think that much of your success is not due to mere serendipity but that you plan your photographic outings assiduously and arrive at these places at just the correct time for the perfect light and tide situations.
This one has certainly been worth all your efforts as the early morning light has given the scene a beautiful warmth - from the rich tones and textures in the old wooden post, the bright foliage and little flowers, the pebbles and, of course, the little wooden cottage. And the reflections of the rising sun in the cottage windows is just the icing on the cake!
Glorious light and colours, perfect exposure and exquisite details and sharpness.

What I like are these warm colors and the low light, very well captured and composed
annjackman (15541) 2013-09-02 3:35
Those saturated colours really jump out of the page. There is such clarity that I can distinguish almost every brightly coloured pebble. Love the warm light and the golden reflections in the windows. The old gnarled post is an essential and lovely part of the composition. Dungeness is of course aphotographers favourite haunt in the South-East of England and somewhere I should try and revisit.
Captivating work - TFS.
Kind Regards, Ann

I can't quite put my finger on it, but there's just something so very charming about this one. I think it may be the soft morning light in the sky gently painting the foreground with atmosphere, combined with the warm glow of artificial light from inside the cottage. Whatever the case, this has the anticipation of a new day along the coastline. Your efforts to be in the right spot at these early hours sure pays dividends, you have a great knack for capturing the essence of first light! Have a great day ahead.
Your note today had me laughing, we share the same terminology..."quack!" :) Oh, if only kids knew just how much more difficult it becomes later in life to have that energy and physical stability. You couldn't be more right, enjoy it while you can!

so do you keep this colored rocks in your pocket every where you go and just spread them around in all of your shots!!! ???? hahaha
kidding of course
its cool to notice the soft blue hour lighting through the holes in the tree! thats really a neat addition to the photo.
and as mentioned, those stones add a beautiful array of colors and shapes. and who could not love the yellow splashed in that cottage, very sweet colors and lighting all around this shot
ChrisJ (91292) 2013-09-04 2:19
A striking warm vs cold color contrast between the red barked tree at left and the blue sky with impeccable sharpness and good density and saturation. Well composed with the additional red flowers on the midground shrub adding interest. The yellow windows in the bg house also contrast well against the blue sky behind. Tfs!
kasianowak (3474) 2013-09-04 13:03
Great composition in well-chosen portrait format. Blue sky contrasts nicely with the warm colours of dawn, especially the windows reflecting the first rays of sunshine. Nicely done!

Sorry I missed this one when you posted it! I love the light and the artfully low viewpoint. The lights in the shack really complement the warm tones of the early morning sun. Your depth of field is enormous, courtesy of the f/18 setting. Another of your photographs that makes me think I should take a trip East!

I like it a lot, the composition, the exposure, the colours. It's a good quality shot. I really like this foreground with the trunk, the flowers and the pebbles, leading our eyes to the little cottage.
