Hover Speed is a speedy craft to which between the Calais, France and Dover, Britain, and it is connected in about 40 minutes. As distance in a straight line, it is 34 km, and a white cliff and Dover Castle can be seen from onboard. When I visited, the ferry was used as a means to cross the only strait, but the Channel Tunnel is opened for traffic between Folkestone and Calais now. I remember having made a day trip to Calais using this.

Never saw this amphibic vhicle, though heared and saw photo of this many times, Mikio.
Heard that the cruise on board this craft is more like a small-plane flight than a ship cruise.
Nice old stuff presented.

This is a splendid historic photo. I wonder if these hovercraft still operate after the Chunnel opened. Thanks for this beauty!

This one is a blast from the past. I remember them being very noisy and very bouncy. TFS.

Excellent scanned work, you've done well with this photo and excellent contrast and levels to lift the grey and bring out the black and white and the bold colours here. What a beautiful detailed image and a lovely bit of greyish background, i bet it's noisy and uncomfortable journey, though an interesting trip. Excellent capture, TFS
