Yarmouth Sunset
 |

| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
A hot sunny day was followed by a really good sunset. I decided to shoot this from the bushes, overlooking the sea, at Yarmouth on the Isle of Wight.
I regret taking this from the bushes though due to a nasty experience.
As i climbed through the undergrowth, i felt sudden stinging on my ankles, and forgetting that i only had flip flops on my feet, i managed to get myself stung severely by stinging nettles! I continued to try and compose the photo, only to feel a crawling sensation across my right foot and then a totally different type of stinging, it was a red ant! Not only did it bite me but it stung me to, so by now i was in a lot of pain!
I took a few photos and then felt a stinging on my arm.......yup......it was a huuuge mosquito, then i caught another on my leg!
Now 2 days later, my arm is swollen, and my right ankle looks as though it has been broken due to the huge swelling from the bites and stings!
I still can't decide if this photo was worth all the pain!?
I used an ND8 Graduated filter |

I Jamie, I can't believe I'm the first one commenting here! Very good effect of the ND filter, the silouhettes in the foreground are maybe too many, but I like the compo.

Hello Jamie,
You certainly suffered to capture this shot!
I like the composition very much! The proportions of sky to water are perfect; there is plenty of opportunity for the lovely warm rays of the sun to spread across the cloudy sky and to reflect in the calm, slightly rippled sea.
I do like the natural borders made from the silhouettes of branches and grasses.
Kind regards,
Bev :-)
Bonsoir jamie,
Une image de rêve! Composition, lumière, couleurs, tout est parfait.
Amitiés.

Jamie I have to say that I feel for you! I too took a few bites and stings this last weekend while taking pictures by a pond, surrounded by all sorts of critters and stinging plants... But hey, come on, we both know it's all worth it :)
A lovely evening shot you have here, framed by the small trees with definition in the close by foliage. The line of clouds with the breaks in is particularly well shown as is the gentle water with the reflection.
All the best, Casper
