Photographer’s Note
I took a drive to Compton Bay (a few miles from Freshwater Town) which is on the other side of the island where i live. There was a stunning sunset, some lovely Pink Thrift flowers on the cliff top, also some surfers catching the last few waves before it got too dark. It was warm, calm, and extremely mellow.
The original was a portrait shot and i cropped it down to a square, im not sure if i prefer it or not.
I used an ND8 Graduated filter

Hello Jamie,
This is a sensational shot — from conception to implementation. You have a painterly eye, and the equipment befitting that talent. The sun is a strong focal point, as counterpoint to the lovely flowers in the foreground. I think this photo should be posted in a larger size — it measures approximately 570x570 pixels (counting the frame), and only 524x524 pixels without the frame. TE allows up to 800x800, and even in a world where "the best things come in small packages," more of this beauty would be preferable. I visited the Isle of Wight only once, while giving lectures on a cruise ship in 1996. I remember it for its rugged beauty, the lovely houses, and the huge variation in sea level that the tides bring in.
Warm regards,
Bulent
