Photographer’s Note

This was a little experiment really, i was trying to capture a feel of Autumn by using a fallen leaf on this rock. I am a little bit let down with the results though. The colours look a bit odd and i feel that something just isn't right with this shot but i don't know what............

I used a polarizer

Nice shot. The leaf on the stone in the foreground looks wonderful. But did you place it, or was it already there?! Pardon me for asking this question, but the perfect order in which the leaf is placed looks somewhat unreal. :) However, in a any case it looks great. Good composition and colours. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Janie,
There are many similar photos on TE, of streams taken with slow shutter speed, and after a while it gets boring. But I like yours as you don't just try to take a photo of the stream like so many others, but you include the fallen leave, which then becomes an eye catcher.
I do not think the colours are 'odd'. Perhaps we have been used to seeing digitally manipulated photos with surreal colours that we find pictures which are not 'odd'? The green is satuated, and maybe it is quite different than what you were seeing.
I have seen quite a few great photos from Isle of Wight on TE. I must make a trip there next time i'm in England!

HI Jamie,

I like this picture, composition, colours and POV are nice. Maybe isn't right the fact you used CPL in a position which made water to much unvisible so the stones look a bit flying in the air "water" if you know what I mean and another issue could be sharpness but it isn't major. I hope you don't take it offensive.
