Photographer's Note

We found this place accidentally while taking a stroll from the hotel in Ventnor on the Isle of Wight. The East of the Island is full of tourist attractions and steep, busy roads but nonetheless is a lovely place to visit. However, Steephill Cove is an absolute gem. It is an unspoilt fishing cove with old shacks and a few cottages with two cafes that serve delicious seafood, beer and coffee. The crab, lobster and mackeral are specialities. There are no cars so access is restricted to waking down the steep hill. Several of the lovely properties can be rented including the Lighthouse seen in the photo. Some of the cottages have tiny gardens on the beach as shown in the picture. The atmosphere of Steep Hill Cove is one of relaxation away from crowds and tourists attractions - a seaside heaven!
