Photographer's Note

Back in January we had a lot of snow, and on this morning the air Temperature was -11.3'c which is pretty cold for the Isle of Wight!
I had been driving around in the dim light of Dawn to try and find a suitable spot to get a few photos, when i came across a field with a single tree, and the hedgerow gave a good line to allow a nice composition.
I took a few 10 second exposures but everything was still quite dark with a very blue hue, although i managed to capture this shot (a previous TE upload) http://www.trekearth.com/viewphotos.php?l=3&p=1179951

About 10 minutes after i captured the previous shot, the sky started to turn purple, then pink, and the colours grew stronger and stronger until the entire western sky was a mass of pink!

I used an ND4 Graduated filter
