Bembridge Sunrise Photo

Photographer’s Note

Yesterday morning (13th May 2008) I woke up at 4am, unable to get back to sleep i decided to look out the window.
The cloud structure looked amazing! Although it was still fairly dark outside, i could see it was going to be a good sunrise for photos.
I wasn't sure where to go, but i finally decided on Bembridge beach.
The composition of this shot was awkward because i wanted to be able to get the waves splashing to the left but also part of the lifeboat pier to the right.
I couldn't move any further to the left otherwise i would have been in knee deep water, so i was perched on the edge of the rocks, trying not to get my camera wet from the splashes!

I used an ND8 Graduated filter

great image, the colors at sunset are gorgeous, also the water splashing on the foreground rocks.

Hello Jamie,

The water in the left corner seems to splash out of the picture. The frame is filled to the brim, yet the scene is peaceful. A nice one!

Woke up early but the result is fabulous, the sky and the orange colors of the sky, little dark clouds the wave, i like the photograph atmosphere. Good use of the rock on foreground to give depth. Very well done!

I liKe slow exposure and waves effect on the rocks and golden light over sea. Sky is gorgeous.
