Dedicated to St Michael and all the Angels.
Built in 1363, gutted during the Reformation, restored in 1862, the interior can only be described as Victorian Gothic.
The exterior walls and Buttresses are original, though all the Church records from before the Reformation are lost.
There are the remains of a Stepped Saxon Cross in the Churchyard, there are indications that it was a very important Church on the Pilgrims Way.

A nice rustic church, well framed - and an interesting vantage point. Indeed some quality things are difficult to find.
I can imagine a day - long past where this church filled and people sang and lovers married ... and people passed. Nice work.

Great image and fascinating note, Mike. As I learn PP, my instinct now is to dodge every shadow and burn-in every highlight, but I like and respect your restraint here with the shadows in the lower left. Every graveyard needs its shadows!
"Not sign posted and hard to find." So THANKS for showing us a place most of us -- even those of us who may come looking! -- will never see!

Good of you to have unearthed this very attractive country church. I like the point of view and the warm light and colours. Very good rendering of the detail in the architecture.
