Wolvesey Castle is a ruined castle in Winchester, Hampshire, United Kingdom. It was erected by the Bishop of Winchester Henry of Blois between 1130 and 1140.

It was once a very important building, and was the location on July 25, 1554 of the wedding breakfast of Queen Mary and Philip II of Spain.

The castle was destroyed by Roundheads during the English Civil War in 1646. It is currently owned by English Heritage.

Hello Mark!
Very nice new picture with beautiful colors and fantastic contrast between the castle, the wonderful blue sky and the green trees. You also chose an excellent point of view and composed the picture perfectly. Also great sharpness anda frame that matches to your photo very well. Can´t think of anything to improve this......very well done!!!
Jonas

salut mark
aujourd'hui nous sommes tous les deux dans les ruines, toi en plan serré et moi en plan large, une lumière un peu forte mais tu l'as bien géré, bien travaillé
amitiés
gilbert

Hello Mark,

I like your chosen viewpoint which allows the ruined wall to act as a good lead in. I think the temptation is always to look through doorways or arches which may not have worked so well in this situation.

The light is very bright, but you have controlled it well, and creates shadows in the arches which add good depth.

What a sky!! Are you sure this is England!!

Kind regards,
Bev :-)

Mark,
The deep blue sky make these ruins stand out nicely. The lighting and colors are great with excellent sharpness and detail. The angle of the shot is great for creating depth.

Asa

Hello Mark

Despite of a hard luminosity, you make a successful composition. The light is well handled to reveal the stones and much detail of this ruined castle.
The perfect blue sky is amazing and offers a wonderful contrast.
A tidy composition, well done.

Regards,
Karine

Hi Mark,
A very good capture of this castle along with an informative note. The sharpness is excellent and the light really enhancing. This also brings out the colours very well. Good vertical composition too!
Regards,
Lars

Hi, Mark. The superb English sky brings out the ruins very well. It contrasts very well with the stones of the building. The tree on the left closes the picture well and is another good source of contrast. The wall in the foreground makes a nice diagonal line drawing the eye to the wall in the background.

Hi Mark,
Great colours and lights on these ruins.
The very good sharpness shows each detail of the stones, both of the ruins and of the ground.
Well enhanced by a deep blue sky.
Well done.
Marianne

Bonsoir Mark,

Roger

It's not easy to photograph ruins, especially if light is that harsh, but you did very well in exposure control. Nice one.

Cheers
A

Hi Mark
Very good quality shot with so much sharpness and your customly blue sky. The ruin base begins nicely from the bottom corner to make the shot dynamic.
