Photographer’s Note
The Vendee Globe is one of the toughest round-the-world challenges out there.
One of this year's entrants - Dee Caffari - is attempting a first, intending to become the only woman to circumnavigate the globe single-handed in both directions.
Her Open 60 - named Aviva - was blessed recently before its race attempt. To me, this image - of the tip of her bowsprit - signifies the hard work and design that has gone into her consctruction.
