Photographer's Note
Sculpture in Gunwharf Quays, Portsmouth, Hampshire
Jubilee Sculpture 2002 by Vivien Mallock. Unveiled by Her Majesty the Queen on 27th June 2002. The sculpture shows the prow of the Royal Yacht Britannia, with the future represented by a small boy seated at its base. The base itself evokes the round Tower, which guards the entrance to the Harbour. Apparently.
I was taken not so much by the quality of the artwork, as by the juxtaposition of the young smiling girl and the bronze boy, studiedly ignoring her.

Hello Will,
I like this one!
I like how the young girl's line of sight is directed to the head of the bronze boy and how he is looking in the very same direction - directly away from her. Does she feel jilted? Or perhaps she doesn't - she's probably texting her boyfriend on her mobile 'phone and not really interested in anything else going on around about her. Did she even notice you taking this photograph?
This is also a very well taken picture and I suspect the conditions weren't exactly favourable - bright light from behind both subjects and yet there is good lighting on both of them and excellent details and sharpness. Fine true colours too.
Excellent!
Kind Regards,
John.

hi Will
she is playing with her mobile phone, and smiling at him, but he ignores her. A bad encounter. Why have you cropped so much, cutting their legs?
Cheers

Hello Will
This is a very well observed and interpreted scene. The girl really seems to want to capture the attention of the statue who is so blissfully ignoring her by looking the other way.
have a good weekend

Hi Will,
Very nicely seen, the smile on the young girl is very wide and intense, a great contrast to the rather sombre looking boy in the statue. Beautifully clear and sharp shot too.
All the best

Hi Will
Terrific candid moment and pitty the girl. He looks really bored needing the much needed break not to be disturbed obviously ignoring her in the best option. There is something strange about looking into the faces of statues. Like being immortalized forever locked inside cement, however it's nice to see you doing some street art. I like the fact that your subject here is not just the statue but the visitor admiring him. Wouldn't it have been great if all the legs are visible? I can only understand that we cant have everything that we want sometimes. Nicely done shot.
Kind regards
