Golden Afternoon
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Little bread-and-butterflies kiss the tulips, and the sun is like a toy balloon. There are get up in the morning glories, in the golden afternoon. There are dizzy daffodils on the hillside, strings of violets are all in tune, Tiger lilies love the dandy lions, in the golden afternoon, the golden afternoon. There are dog and caterpillars and a copper centipede, where the lazy daisies love the very peaceful life they lead... You can learn a lot of things from the flowers, for especially in the month of June. There’s a wealth of happiness and romance, all in the golden afternoon. ... All in the golden afternoon, the golden afternoon...

Hello Leilani,
I don't know if it is the photo that I like that much or what it represents! I think your photo is very evocative, for me. I just feel right now the wish to find a daisy field and lay in the middle of it, smell the grass and the dirt, let my toes free in the air, and be bitten by some bugs or spiders (!).
In my opinion, it is in this evocation that lay the power of your photo.
I wonder what it looks like in colors, but since I like B&W, I have no trouble with the conversion. I wonder though if it misses some contrast. I played a bit with it in Photoshop, tried to make the white, whiter, but came to the conclusion that it was the midtones (the grass) that were not enough dark for me.
Nevertheless, I like the photo. It makes me dream! :)

Hi Leilani,
it is remarkable how golden BW image can be. Manageing the light so perfectly it provides with such a wonderful result. The girl enjoying her moment with nature and her bare feet as a symbol of total freedom create wonderful ambient. Little bit darkish beginning of the forest creates a slight feeling of anticipation of someone/something comming from it, or just a pleasant view of light and shadow play. Beautiful shot, golden!
Kind regards,
Jeri
There is something incredibly charming in this photo of yours, Leilani (even though - not perfectly clear ?)
It takes the precious few seconds till you decode the picture, but after that...
Nothing but smile on my ugly face...
It could be that 'down the memory line' trip into past as well...
Or, it could be something else...
It is just 'it' within - I guess !
.........
PS: The HCB' citation in your intro..?
The exact translation from French, is:
"I'd prefer the tomato soup with noodles rather than with the rice', but...
There are many different versions of these quotes of his...
Stay cool, L.
