Sea of Yellow

| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
I scouted out this field earlier in the day but the sky was too light. Anyway, later on the sky was really threatening with a storm so I jumped in the car to try to get some contrasty shots of yellow and dark grey. Didn't happen though as the sky cleared again. I took a few shots anyway.
I had to crop this image a bit as there were so many pylons and telephone poles in the way.
I have experimented with lead lines - though they don't really lead to anything. I think it still looks cool though. I have saturated the colours a bit (still learning there) but not sure if it is too much.
As always, all comments most welcome, especially if it helps me to improve. I'll be uploading a slightly different one tomorrow.
Thanks very much all.
Post Edit: Forgot to say, thsi si a photo of a field of oilseed rape taken on Cleeve Common in Gloucestershire. |

beautiful landscape ...such great color :)
well choose the frame for this view
well done
best regards,anes
Hi Graeme and Welcome to TrekEarth;
Your right- the yellow clearly dominates the image and I like how the rows lead the viewer into the image.
Just a word of warning though... I think your frames are bordering on the verge of being too elaborate, which could mean removal of the image (please see the Terms of Service in the about section at the top of the page).
All the best,
- Dan
Another field of cereal to add to the growing problem of biofuels/hunger of the modern world. But that is a different story all together.
The photo is very nice with the yellow dominating the frame. Talking about frames, I believe you are wasting too much space with your frame and not taking advantage of the maximum pixels allowed to post on TE.

Hi Graeme,
I think that this is your best one yet. The power here is in the simplicity. Color and lines dominate and provide interest. The small band of trees on the horizon grounds it visually. Your saturation adjustments are spot on and have not gone to far at all for my eye. For frames less is more really and don't feel you have to use one.
Cheers!

Welcome, Graeme to TE. This s a very nice image with excellent composition to showcase the blossoms. Per half, try to utilize the whole frame for the image to give greater impact. Make the white frame smaller.
