Photographer's Note

The all important cheese-rolling competition takes place annually on Cooper's hill in Gloucestershire.
A cheese is thrown by the cheese-master from the top a bloody steep hill and people run after it. The cheese goes down at the speed of sound and people tumble after it at the speed of light. Check this video, it's really worth it!!!cheese rolling video

Hello Nicolas,
Typically English! I like the inclusion of the ambulance in this shot, it adds much to the atmosphere and brings a sense of humour. TFS.

Under normal circumstances the observation would be that the ambulance distracts, large light area etc, etc.
In this instance it is absolutely an integral part of the photo and the event. I think it was 43 injuries this year, amazingly none serious.
The action has been beautifully caught and the steepness of the hill is very apparent.
This actually takes place about 3 miles from where I live but I have never attended.

hi nicholas,, good to see the ambulance on standby you have framed the shot perfect i think i would be one at the bottom watching raher than competing great humers shot

did i read somewhere they were trying to ban the event on stupid health and safety grounds?
