[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
There are times I hate the British winter. Long, wet, dreary days spent wishing I could get out and about without ending up cold and drenched. Other days, like this one, really fire me up.

Yes, I had a new toy to play with but I could walk for miles in this sort of scenery - with or without a camera (preferably 'with' of course).

Anyway. Not done much to this apart from see it and take it. A small crop and a little sharpening - along with slight increase in contrast to bring the foreground / trees up.

Hope you like it.

Hi Paul

The mist & fog adds good mood & atmosphere. I like the softness, of the silhouetted trees, partly obcured in the early morning? haze. The muted colours are realistic. Seasons Greetings!

Hello Paul,
if we waited for the snow we would never go out to take pictures. This picture typifies the winter here in the UK (when its not raining and drab and dull, of course).I am hoping for a little fog and pink skies here in Scotland but they have yet to appear.
I like your compposition shpwing a big sky with tinges of pink and blue.
seasons' greetings,
Bev

Hello Paul
The misty atmosphere is very well conveyed here ;) and I like the pale blue/pink colors and the silhouetted trees. I can feel the cold...
Enjoy your new toy!
Cheers
Marilyn

Hello Paul!
Beautiful mystic mist!
Nice silhouettes and muted colors!
TFS, Best regards, Zorica

Hello Paul -

I see you got a new toy for Christmas - so did I. I do like this early morning mist image it really portrays the cold. The sky is nice but it looks a little weak - I will post a simple WS to add some density to sky. Nice observation and well done.

Thank you for sharing.

John

You don't have "allow WS" turned on which is too bad.

Bonjour, Paul.
Une composition minimaliste et efficace avec un superbe effet du brouillard.
Je me demande si je n'aurais pas entièrement desaturé et je pense que si...
Amitiés, Grazyna.

Hello Paul
Aha! - This is the view without foreground - and very atmospheric it is too. We are drawn in to really examine the form of each tree. A panoramic, cropped just above the tree tops could emphasise this very well - as an alternative version.
All the best Maggie

Good that you can enjoy the winters in your own country, I like this foggy composition and the immense sky is inspiring, not so dissimilar from the countryside in the north of my country so this evoques a lot to my imagination !
TFS,
Best wishes for 2008,
Cath.

wonderful winter and cold effect image, i like the large place for the fog, superb.
happy new year

Hi Paul,

with this capture you did something I wasn't able. I tried to capture this pink ambiental light with hazy atmosphere but I failed. So I have even bigger appreciation for this capture. So soft and smooth, so natural lovely. I love it. Thanks for sharing.

Best regards,
Jeri

Hi Paul,
don't know how I missed this one, as it is so much many things I like...:-) It is a treat to look at with that fine misty sky and the pastel light that tries to come out, the minimalistic compo is what it needs to bring this mood out, I like the trees on the horizon. So peaceful and promising. The workshop is excellent and gives it that little extra punch. I also should put my head down into PP work...
As ninal, I wonder what a desaturation would look like, out of curiosity.
Well done!
TFS
Michèle

this is a really beautiful shot - the unusual framing and placement of the horizon makes it a very interesting shot. i'd probably only bring out the contrast a bit more to show the tree silouettes a bit more.
