[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Hylands House is a beautiful grade II* listed building, set in 574 acres of parkland.

Following five phases of restoration, visitors can now enjoy all of the spectacular rooms in the House, ranging from the exquisitely gilded Drawing Room to the sumptuously ornate Banquetting Room.

The magnificent Grand Staircase has been fully restored to its former glory, and the Repton Room on the first floor provides stunning views over the landscaped parkland.

The final stages of restoration of the estate are due for completeion by February 2007.

There's also a golf course and some nice parkland to walk / walk your dog in.

No crop on this photo and the merest amount of work on curves to reduce the brightness of the newly-restored and painted facade. I've applied unsharp mask as usual.

Hope you like...

Hi Paul, I really like this - you have a talent for photographing stately homes I think. Good compo and POV looking down the path.
TFS. Leon.

Hi Paul
Nice point of view on this magnificient house.
The picture is well sharp
But I suggest to underexpose a little just between -1/3 and -2/3 to bring more details on the whites.
Cheers.

Paul,
Pretty composition here. The vivid details are adequate to show this beautiful building. Nice the f/8 option.

Paulo

Hi Paul. Well, this shot is a hell of a lot better than some similar ones with much higher scores, I have to say. Terrific composition with the framing trees, the lead-in path and the people in the gateway. The building is so well set against all these other features, and is sharp and clear despite the obvious difficulties of a large white subject on a sunny day. The light and shade are well captured. Colour is very naturalistic, too. Excellent shot.
Regards,
Andrew

Hi Paul,
This is a quite excellent shot of this amazing architecture and, as Andrew said above, it couldn't have been easy to shoot such a white subject and still maintain detail within the structure itself and it's surrounding parts. Your positioning couldn't have been better either: the path leads the eye nicely into the scene, the trees either side fill what could have been just plain blue sky (I like the shadows they cast too) and the people in the middle are perfectly placed.
All in all, a difficult shot to get right, considering the light and the brightness of the building, but you've got it spot-on.
Outstanding.
Best wishes, Vicky

Hi Paul
Nice POV. I too like the way you have framed the shot with the trees and the sharpness of the subject.
Take care

A very nice depiction of a beautiful stately house with the use of the Greek pilars as was the tradition. You've got the best possible angle i think from this path. I will be visiting again your gallery.
