Photographer’s Note
Probably the best known landmark in my village, Brightlingsea. This is Bateman's Tower, built in the early 1900's by a wealthy businessman in a failed venture. The cast concrete structure (one of only a few of its kind) was then used a private bathing venue by its owner. It stands leaning looking out over the Colne Estuary.
I have photographed this many times, but this is one of my new favourites. I have a more subtle version of this shot, but this one I really cranked up the contrast while bringing down the brightness. Enjoy. Oh, comments are very welcome. Thanks, TW

Hello Tim,
This is a beautiful picture, wit a nice dégradé from red to blue.
Reflection is well mastered thanks to the clouds that help making it softer than if the sky had been deep blue.
Your horizon line is good and i like the way you de-centered it.
I think that makes the all difference. Had you put the tower in the middle, it would have been common, but like this you've got this profound red foreground that gives intensity and tension to your shot.
Like it a lot.
Congratulations

Stunning. These are the kinds of shots where I study the photo information and image in order to learn better photography.
Thank you.

The colour combination is so striking it cannot help but arrest and hold one's eye - the tower and it's reflection is a real icing on the cake - the effect is like a beautiful mystery - the choice of composition with the long foreground and high skyline works really well.
best wishes kev

Obviously a beloved spot. So much intensity in the POV, the colors. For once, I appreciate the simetric composition, it reinforce the presence of the tower in the huge field.
Sorry for my bad english
