Braintree

I set myself a little project today to find a few interesting - and even pictureworthy views of where I live.
Don't get me wrong, Braintree's a nice enough place to live - but glamourous, it just isn't - so finding a suitable scene wasn't easy.
However, after a short drive round, I spotted this fountain on a little square right outside the main church.
On sunny days, the square is generally full of the sort of youths I wouldn't go anywhere near - baseball caps on back-to-front, talking to each other in "Ali-G" accents, bragging about the size of the exhaust pipes on their cut-and-shut Vauxhall Novas.....i.e. idiots with too much time on their hands.
Often, they pour soap flakes into the fountain and the place is awash with suds and bubbles.
Thankfully, today, it was deserted and I could get on with a shooting in peace - so here goes....!
PS - Apart from a tiny amount of USM on PS7, this is as it came out of the camera. |

I think you did well here (I've never been to Braintree but I know other parts of Essex eg Basildon well so know what you were up against). I would have moved to the right a little so as to put some sky between the nose of the seal and the statue of the man.
