[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is a lovely little church tucked away down a back road between Braintree and Witham in Essex in a village called Black Notley. Not sure where the name comes from, but I will do some research. I have been told that Black Notley and White Notley pre-date the plague of 1665 and that one was called 'Black' because many died from the plague - whereas its sister village a couple of miles down the road was saved the same fate. It sounds plausible, but I cannot confirm it - yet!! This is the first post using my new toy!!

Hallo Paul!
You show us a calm and peaceful scenery in a wonderful light. It's framed very well and by this it has a outstanding depth. The diagonal between light and dark is very interesting. I like it very much!
Have a nice weekend!

Hi Paul,
I love old churches, and this one looks really nice. You've caught it in some very attractive lighting and composed it very well. I like the way the branch of the tree fills in the top left corner. Nice peaceful setting for this very pretty scene. Well taken. Best wishes, Vicky

Very nice work, Paul.
I'm not sure about that branch in front of the church, maybe you could've found a better POV, but luckily it follows the line of the roof edge, so we're not missing much of the whole church.
Nice composition with the imaginary diagonal across the frame and good light management.
I like it!
Robi

Hi Paul,
Nice PoV and DoF! And good play of light and shadow! Quite artistic I must say.
Cheers & TFS

Hello Paul,

Nice photo. You have captured many years of history in your photo. Point of view is right on.

Speaking of your new toy, I too, recently purchased the Fujifilm S3 Pro and I love it. The details are incredible.

David...

Bonjour Paul,
Magnifique petite église dans une jolie scène campagnarde, avec son cimetière à l'ombre des vieux arbres.
Superbement cadrée, très bonne définition, et magnifiques couleurs.
Amicalement
Martine

Just caught up with this and it's terrific. Superb pov and composition in this dappled-sunlight shot. Great perspective looking down the path, and a nice spring sky. Delightful subject and very appealing photo, and it's a shame it hasn't got more points. C'est la vie!
Regards,
Andrew

Hi,
Superb feel to this shot, great colours, shadows, and taken from a great angle. Tree branch in the foreground completes a superb photograph.
Well Done!
Steve
