A view east from Seaford Head across Cuckmere Haven at the rising chalk cliffs of the Seven Sisters. At this point on the south coast of England the chalk hills of the South Downs finally meet the sea. In the distance you can see Birling Gap where you can climb down steps to the beach, and also the Belle Tout lighthouse perched on the cliff top.

ahh, these chalk cliffs look really exceptional!
Excellent composition juxtaposing the cliffs with so lovely surrounding. The combination of three dominating colors and contrast between them makes also the visual effect of the image so expressive and eye-catching!
Have a nice day

queste scogliere sono fantastiche, le stavo ammirando di recente mentre guardavo un film ambientato da queste parti.
Uno dei tanti spettacoli che la natura ci offre.

Hi Brian, spectacular view where the White rocks are a natural border between sea and sky, great capture with the usual top quality,i like it! Have a nice week and thanks,Luciano

The white cliffs have always been an iconic symbol of reaching England across the channel. You have presented them, today, in that startling, almost aggressive, open-mouthed way that they protect the land.
I like how you have anchored the f/g to increase the sense of depth.
Have you done some special pp work as there is a definite effect on the colours?
Have a great day,
jhm (131876) 2013-12-09 3:41
I suspected that the name seven sisters is the name of the area.
Your picture is very well taken with the chalk cliffs along the coast.
This create depth and perspective.
Colours and sharpness are perfect.
Very well composition, nice captured.
Well done, TFS.
Have a nice week,

Ciao e buona settimana

the lovely curves of the chalk cliffs are really well displayed between the wintery blue tones of the sea and sky,oh and I do like the inclusion of the spindly wind blown tree in the FG.
Have a great week,
Subhogen (4047) 2013-12-09 4:49
Good side on POV chosen to show the most attractive feature of these cliffs. The white cliffs present good contrast with the blue sky and the sea. Nice composition to keep a little bit of the green fields in the FG. Good shot and thanks for sharing.
mkamionka (28424) 2013-12-09 5:32
this is a perfect presentation of these famous white cliffs. You have selected a great POV to emphasize their sinusoidal shape. They stand out from the blue surrounding very well. Composition is thoroughly thought through, I like very much the lighthouse far on top of the cliffs. I hope I can visit this place some day,

Superbe point de vue sur la côte anglaise avec ses falaises de craies. J'aime bien l'ondulation des lieux et l'éclairage sur la côte. Bravo.

Hello Brian ,
It is allways a pleasure to see a view of this wonderful place . The white cliffs stand out so well against the scenery . May be it would have been better without the branches in the FG .
Nicou (111401) 2013-12-09 7:45
Merveilleuse image et compo quel découpage de ces falaises avec ce blanc cette ligne qui ondule et la mer ce vert sure le sommet fantastique.

Very attractive composition!
The light on the white chalk cliffs is so beautiful and makes them shine wonderfully between the dark green grassy areas on top and the blue sea and sky.
Best regards, Paul

You know, you could probably post a hundred pictures of these cliffs and each one would carry its own distinctive and individual attraction and character. I think it's a true testament to your vision and creativity to reinvent a previously used subject and present it with new found interest on each occasion.
Such immediate visual impact. I can only imagine, much like some of the places here in Az. that you enjoy, I would be just as giddy to photograph what you have available over there! :)
I realize I'm repeating myself here, but I'm continually impressed at how you keep the highlights in tact. I have to think it would be really easy to come away with overblown whites, or far too deep blues in contrast, but you've struck an smooth balance once again. Simply gorgeous!
Cheers from the Old West,
Sounds like you've had some schizophrenic weather this year!? Glad I could help relive some of your memories traveling through Az. :)

another very nice shot from you. Interesting view. Like how it merge. Great light and depth. The colour tone is as always soothing. Great composition. Tfs.

These cliffs should be renamed as the White Cliffs of Brian. Another stunning shot to add to the series, this time with the more conventional POV, but the usual wonderful sharpness, depth, colours and light management. They actually seem three dimensional, you have photographed them so well. And the light is ure magic.
Excellent work, have a happy day
dkmurphys (44675) 2013-12-10 0:06
Another spectacular capture from the chalk shore. Impressive, very well taken.
Enjoy a nice day.
SnapRJW (27098) 2013-12-10 5:19
A superb shot Brian - I love the way you have managed the light here, the tones and textures in the white cliffs are exceptionally good and each undulation across the face of the cliffs is clearly and beautifully rendered. A very attractive work with good use of your long lens bringing the distant details much closer, I can even see a building in the hollow of the cliffs. Warm regards rosemary
npecanhuk (59040) 2013-12-10 14:51
Such a wonderful place!
Such a beautiful, pleasant-looking and inviting picture!
Sharpness, exposure, colors, horizontal format, chosen pov and composition are all excellent!
TFS - congrats,
ikeharel (48388) 2013-12-11 8:41
Stunning POV over the 7 sisters, a most impressive earth formation in white, Brian.
It doe's contrast to the surrounding, like a daytime lighttower seen far out to sea.
asdmirable sight, well collected. Cheers.

Amazing view of the white cliffs. it must be wonderful to walk along them but not for someone with vertigo, like me. Fantastic presentation.
josepmarin (57267) 2013-12-13 2:47
these high cliffs have a fantastic contrast with the tones of the landscape and with the blue tones of the sky and of the sea.
I like the good light and the natural colors of the photo, and its quality of image as well.
This view is wonderful, you have caught it perfectly.
macjake (49348) 2013-12-15 8:56
I'm totally shocked that you took this photo at a focal length of 230mm! I thought it was a wide angle at the 50 or 60mm range.
Just how far back are you?
You could post this 100 times and I'll never get tired of it. splendid light on this chalk cliffs..beauty!
jmdias (50365) 2014-04-02 1:46
