Photographer’s Note

A shot from under Hastings Pier. It was a very bright day outside so I was fooling about using my cheap tinted sunglasses as a filter. I know the result isn't exactly high quality but I kind of haven't been aiming for that anyway. So, liked the effect and have been using all sorts of funny things as filters since.
Crop and USM in PSP.
A bit about our beloved pier:
Started in 1869, it was opened by the Earl of Granville on 5th August 1872, the country's first ever Bank Holiday. Designed by the famous engineer Eugenius Birch and originally modelled on Brighton's West Pier but with a Pavillion seating 2000 people at the seaward end and 200ft long landing stages. The pier was 910ft (275m) long and varied in width from 45ft (13.6m) to 190ft (57.5m).
Since then it's been a bit ravaged by storm and the years but has been refurbished fairly recently. It is becoming quite cool now with some groovy shops and a brilliant bar called 'The Gritti Palace'.
I love it, especially since we used to spend our childhood summer holidays jumping off of it into the sea (quite dangerous really), fishing off of it, later going to parties and gigs in the pavillion ballroom (still happening)and some (not me, though) spent their teenage years learning about love underneath it!! Cheers
