Photographer’s Note

One week ago I was together with my wife and friends at the invitation of on a danceparty in Eastbourne but for one day (a few hours).
During the lunch I took my camera and saw this wonderful image.
I shall place later the pier and a part of the sea.

Eastbourne is a unique seaside resort with an amazing range of activities, sports and exciting events for you to enjoy in a fantastic setting. Everything is within easy reach with the seafront promenade virtually leading straight on to the foot of the beautiful Eastbourne Downs and Beachy Head and the town centre just a few yards walk from the centrally located Victorian Pier.

I hope you enjoy it.

Dag John. Het kanaal overgestoken? Het ziet er in ieder geval heel aantrekkelijk uit, mooier dan de lelijke hoogbouw die we aan onze kust te overvloedig terugvinden. Mooi perspectief en hele warme kleuren (zoals we van je gewoon zijn). Het ontbreken van monokini's doet me wel vermoeden dat de temperatuur niet zo heel hoog was op dat moment ;-)). Groetjes.

Hello John

A familiar scene across much of the south coast of England. I remember the pain, as a child, of walking over the pebbled, stoney beaches, to reach the sand and sea. Good POV and lovely warm colours.

Well John it seems to me that in England that everyone wants their own private beach. These fence lines stretching into the sea has made for a very interesting photo. Excellent perspective here and a wonderful view. Thanks for sharing!

Great view of the town and the beach, and the close relationship between them. The rows of beach obstacles, one after the other, is shown very well too, because of the angle, making it look like they go on forever. Having the buildings of the town so close is good too, because it shows us how cozy everything is there. Well done!

Outstanding photo with great composition and POV. The lighting and colors are great with excellent DOF and sharpness. The repeating patterns formed by the jetties attract the eye trough the shot. You have captured a nice sky as well.

How can you create such a sharp image John???
Every, every pixel has a minute detail in it. And even there is no single evidence of sharpening. This is just incredible. Great compo under a dim light, the result is superb!

You certainly caught the place looking at it's best in this wonderful light, and you've done a good job here.
The composition works well, although I'd have been tempted to crop a bit nearer to the wooden groyne, cutting down some of the excess foreground and going for more of a panoramic format. I think with it's strong horizontal layers the image would suit this kind of treatment.

Goedemorgen John, uw dansen heeft u even naar de overkant gebracht! Prachtige kleuren in deze capture van de boulevard van Eastbourne. U heeft in een geslaagde hoek de diverse architectuur samengenomen met het strand en wat mensen voor de levendigheid. Heel mooi werk, ik kijk er graag naar!

Een prachtige foto van de Zuid-Engelse kust! De kleuren zijn bijzonder aantrekkelijk. Het zonlicht en de wolken zorgen voor een leuke sfeer, uiteraard ook geholpen door de mensen die op het pad langs het strand lopen. De architectuur van de huizen vind ik ook zeer mooi. Uitstekend werk!

Greetings John. A very attractive picture of the town and its strand. A fine perspective is achieved, and it was a good idea to use a viewpoint to show the many wooden barriers built to prevent the erosion of the sand. The colours are lovely, in a slightly under-exposed and gentle way. I doubt if any photo could make this town look more attractive.

Hallo John, de late zon kleurt hier je perspectief van de dijk in mooie warme kleurtonen, mischien hadden de wolken hier een ietsje meer oplichtend contrasterend het frame mooi kunnen afsluiten met wat meer sprankel van licht, kan makkelijk nog hier geloof ik, dat zou ik persoonlijk toch trachten uit te testen, of dit beter zou zijn weet ik nog niet, zou dit moeten uittesten. Het licht op de gevels is prachtig, zeer fijngedetaillerd.
Een mooi sfeerbeeld van onze Belgische gepollueerde kust :)

it has been quite while that I didn't look into your newest posts. I was off for a 2 week tour to Oregon and Washington with my daughters and got some interesting shots during this time.
Your photographies that you posted in the meantime are really good, as usual and I won't find time to critique all of them so I choose this one to write a critique as representative for all the others.
It might sound weird to you, but this here is one of your best shots. The clarity, colors, contrast and composition are perfect. It gives me the impression of a freshly baked bread coming out of the oven and smells delicious. Funny association but I can't help. What I'm tying to say is that it seems that you achieved to capture not only the visual but much more!

Hi John.
Nice composition to show this interesting seaside resort. Despite some quite ugly squared buildings have been built in some places, it seems that the place is quite well preserved and we can enjoy nice houses with traditional architecture. The light is just superb.

Very nice beach view, although this one is a bit to urbanised for me (this is one of the things I do not like with the English south coast...). I wonder what is the use of the wooden walls, probably to separate the diffrents beaches depending from every hotel...

Hi John - very pleasant waterfront, the sunny weather makes it look (almost) like the Mediterranean, excellent sharpness, it's possible to count each individual pebble on the beach.

You were certainly lucky with the light on this day, John, and you have taken advantage of that to produce an image with a lot of clarity and warmth.
