Photographer’s Note
Taken from the same vicinity as the Sussex cliff shot I posted recently. Lying in tall grass, leaning over the cliff, this is what I observed. The colours were amazing. I apologize for the lack of sharpness.

Hi John, It looks like a good place to relax. I like the bird’s eye view of the red sand beach under the cliffs, the white wave and the blue ocean. The stone stands at the middle of the ocean made this place very special. A nice composition with good color contrast, and nice ocean wave texture. Well done.

From the thumbnail I thought this was a satellite photo! Really gorgeous colors. Did you add a filter of some sort afterwards?

Interesting if one views it as an abstract. If one views it as a view then the coarse pixelation really irritates. So I guess it depends which mood you are in.

I have no problem with posting low resolution images myself to TE BUT this is such a wonderful colour study and such a graphic image I'm finding it a little hard to appreciate the image as much as I would like because of the quality - but a great observation and idea - very beautiful. However- just a little distance from the computer screen and all that changes - have people here never stepped back to look at a painting in a gallery!!?

Nice to see you again John
I love your composition ... and the fact that you can really see the marks of different tides on the beach ... seems like a magical place you been to ....
but I am not really happy with the exposure settings .. I might would have liked to overexpose the shot a bit to get the details of the ocean ... but i am not sure though ...as i would have liked to get a clear picture of beach and waves for sure ...
neways very good unconventionally composed shot ... cheers
thanks for sharing

I like the movement of the water and the contrasting color of the sand. The sentinel on the right give a vertical feeling that increase the vertigo effect.Nicely done by a courageous guy.

Fantastic POV and composition. Great!
One thing I don't understand - why do you make scans instead of downloading pics directly from camera onto your computer? Haven't you taken this photo with your D20?
Robi
PS. ooops, sorry - just noticed the date when the photo was taken...

Yes, the sharpness is not so very good. Was it because you had to zoom in so very much to get closer? But the rest of the photo is fabulous. You had a very good point of view. I like the composition with the beach to the left and the cliff in the water. The colours and the lines are very nice.

John,
Lack of sharpness does not bother me so much in this one. Great colours and POV is what I see!

Hi John,
I took same time in visiting your amazing gallery. I love to see the first posts of members that are here for some time and are a reference to my work. It have been fun to see yours...
I love sights from above and feel the sense of vertigo in such wonderful POV as this cliff. The colours are really impressivly beautiful and either I see it as a view or an abstract work I just love it, even if its not a perfect one in technical issues. I found your reply to John Stewart very interesting and I have been some doubts about me preferences, as I wrote it in my last post of the surfers of Carcavelos beach. To choose my preferences in here I would have to see a less sharpen one in ws to compare. Anyway, I just love this image. Congratulations for your superb work and thanks a lot for sharing it so well!

I get shivers looking at this John, not so much from vertigo but thinking about you lying on the edge of the cliff - don't those cliffs ever crumble at the top? The lack of sharpness, which has been much debated above, does disturb me a bit, but I took Kev Ryan's suggestion and stood a few feet back from the computer screen and from there it looks magnificent - so full marks for composition and bravery! Cheers . . . David

Un tableau d'une grande beauté, John, avec des couleurs sublimes. "A thing of beauty is a joy for ever." disait le grand poète de chez vous.
