A late January afternoon as the sun sinks lower over the giant birdcage, which is the wrecked West Pier in the city of Brighton in East Sussex, England. Opened in 1866 it started to deteriorate in the mid 1970's and was subsequently damaged by the elements and then by two fires in 2003. All that is left now is this sorry isolated framework, whilst various debates and plans continue to circulate as to whether it will ever be rebuilt.
Regrettably I have found it necessary to add a discrete watermark to my images posted on TE as some have been hi-jacked and are now being used commercially on other websites, without my permission.
I realise it is impossible to stop people sharing images once posted on the internet and I have no real issue with that, it is flattering to know that they like them that much………but to make money from them is another matter and infringes copyright.
My anti-virus software dislikes the forums on TE! So please do not think I am rude if I do not answer any comments or questions raised…………

Good Morning Brian,
Your shots are almost poetic!
The structure is quite gossamer as it climbs out of the sea towards the hazy sky.
The slight reflections in the water add the necessary 'weight' to the bottom third of the shot.
Have a great day,

A question of politicians dithering (as always) whilst the situation continues to worsen? A poignant image that benefits much from the symmetrical composition and that splendid sky. Perfectly framed and beautifully lit.

I like the subtle warm cold colour contrasts between the orange pink skies and the blue water and upper blue sky. Good sharpness with excellent graphism and partial silhouettes of the wrecked pier. Thanks for showing this as I thought wrongly the existing pier had been repaired. Wasn't aware that there are 2 or more piers at Brighton. Tfs!

Ciao e buona giornata

This old pier is a picturesque place to take romantic photos, great graphism of the pier and beautiful sunset colors

Th ere is a very subtle pink-orange tinge to the clouds here Brian and the birdcage benefits from the same warm light highlighting details here and there. The delicate nature of this composition needs to be contemplated to be fully enjoyed. A beautiful study. Warm regards Rosemary

This sea side structure sure was a big source of inspiration for you. Another fine scene, very well taken.

Vision toute en douceur de cette "épave"avec une très jolie composition verticale.

I like the vertical format with much of the space given to the sky as it makes the old pier look so derelict and forlorn. The delicate colours of the clouds are lovely - a beautiful time of the day to take this.
Kind Regards, Ann

Love those piers. Next time I'm in Britain, I'll definitely go check'em and grab a few shots. They're such good photographic subjects! A cool vertical composition here that gives jsutice to the sky and lets the frame breathe. Bit on the dark side though, innit?

Calm, peaceful & pleasant-looking photograph!
Special regards to the soft light & colors and composition in this vertical format!
TFS - congrats,
Enjoy your week-end,
