Photographer's Note
The village of Alfriston sits on the banks of the Cuckmere River in East Sussex, England. Here you can see the 14th century church of St Andrew (known as the Cathedral of the South Downs) and the Clergy House, which dates from the same time. The latter is a rare example of a Wealden "Hall House" and was the first building to be acquired by the English National Trust in 1896.

Hello Brian
Well composed using the rule of thirds with three roughly equal horizontal bands of sky, housing & grass. Good sharpness & superb warm vs cold color contrasts between the hot colors of red in the rooftops, & brown yellow red grass & cool color of the blue sky. Tfs!

Hello Brian,
Back close to home today I see! As usual your flawless technique makes a scene something special. I see that the daffodils are well and truely out. I am wondering whether you have ever visted the wild daffodil woods near Pulborough (Stopham)in West Sussex - glorious!
Best wishes, Ann

Hello Brian - A peaceful, idyllic rural scene. The yellow daffodils are just visible in the church yard and in a few short weeks the trees will be a mass of fresh green leaves. A simple but deeply lovely shot. Reminds me of the Robert Browning poem:
O, to be in England
Now that April 's there,
And whoever wakes in England
Sees, some morning, unaware,
That the lowest boughs and the brushwood sheaf
Round the elm-tree bole are in tiny leaf,
While the chaffinch sings on the orchard bough
In England—now!
And after April, when May follows,
And the whitethroat builds, and all the swallows!
Hark, where my blossom'd pear-tree in the hedge
Leans to the field and scatters on the clover
Blossoms and dewdrops—at the bent spray's edge—
That 's the wise thrush; he sings each song twice over,
Lest you should think he never could recapture
The first fine careless rapture!
And though the fields look rough with hoary dew,
All will be gay when noontide wakes anew
The buttercups, the little children's dower
—Far brighter than this gaudy melon-flower!
He lived in Italy when he wrote this and I can relate totally to his mindset!
Warm spring wishes Rosemary

Hi Brian,
Just for the colours, this photo worths the detour.
I like the mood of this scene that evoke autumn, despite that is recently captured.
Generous light, good contrast and efficient composition with a large part allocated to the golden grass.
Cheers!

Good Morning Brian,
I am a memeber of the National Trust; I didn't realise that it had been going so long!
This is a fine composition of horizontal layers, leading deeper into the shot. It has a good dof and the rusty reds are very eye-catching, making a strong contrast with the pale colour of the sky.
Have a good day,
Bev :-)

Hello Brian,
This is a beautifully composed shot of wondrous clarity and sharpness. The colours in the low spring light are wonderful and I can even see a little patch of daffodils - a sure harbinger of spring.
Beautiful!
Kind Regards,
John.

Bonjour Brian,
scène d'une grande pureté, du ciel d'un magnifique bleu, à cette paille aux couleurs fauves. Une petite touche de verts, du rouge très vif, un festival de couleurs.
Un domaine bien cadré dans une photo très nette.
Regards.
Daniel.

Hi Brian
this one is great!
just looking at it, we can see the high quality of the photo.
in a funny way, the subjects almost look fake, as if they are miniatures or something.
perfect gold tones along the bottom, and lovely light/sky combo.
beauty
