Good Morning Everyone,
This photograph shows St. Mary's Church in Piercebridge. It was designed by Cory and Ferguson, in the Early English style, and built in 1873.
It has a most curious projecting bell cote. I have never seen anything quite like it before, and fish scale type roof tiles.
Possibly due to the available space or, maybe, following the shape of earlier Roman foundations, the church door does not face the road, it faces the nearby cottages, but that does mean that this amazing tower and bell cote face the road.
The sun was quite strong when I took the shot, giving very strong light/shade contrasts. I have used layers in PSE10 to slightly lighten the walls and I have adjusted slight lens distortion.
I wish you a lovely day, Bev :-)

Fine view of the elegant architecture. Interesting facade with the bell cote. The PP has given nice textural details without the loss of naturalness. Thanks for sharing and have a nice day.

Good point of view on this very interesting church. I like the tight framing and the rendering of the textural detail in the stonework. The necessary PP work is evident from the slight halo surrounding the church. Not always easy to avoid though you could try a larger further on the selection, or in this case where there is already a sharp contrast between the tonal areas of the image don't feather at all.

Before reading the note, the churchj looked to me a bit different, Beverly, but could not pinpoint the cause for that.
You very well explained.
Pic. taken from a goofd POV with regards to the light - as I reckon with the shades.
Intertesting masons work, with unique carved walls.

Salutations.

Aren't all churches supposed to make a difference...maybe I should actually try going once in a while and test that theory!? :)
This really is quite different in style, it certainly wasn't my first thought when I saw this as a smaller thumbnail in the gallery. It could easily be mistaken for a grandiose cottage rather than a church. I do like the originality it offers though, makes you stop and take a good look at the varied architecture and details you pointed out.
Nice work bringing out the shaded areas while keeping the highlights in check. Crazy how too much sun can often times be more problematic than not enough. Thanks for sharing the other side of traditional. Well done! Have a great day ahead. All the best.

Good choice of a vertical frame with excellent sharpness and inpressive pp work on the sky. Nice warm cold color contrasts between the blue sky and yellow green grass. Excellent shadow detail in the facade of the church. Have a nice weekend!

Ciao Cara Beverley
Ciao e buona giornata
