Darlington is a town famous mainly for the terminus of the world’s first passenger railway (Darlington – Stockton). The origin of its name is quite different from what I implied in the title of this photo but I thought it is funny. It is definitely off the beaten track unless someone is into trains. There are two railway museums around here. There are several interesting buildings in Darlington, but the one which is the most characteristic is a Clock Tower of the Market Hall (in this photo).

Hello Mariusz ,
A beautiful post card, full of light and colors . I lik especially the curve of the paved street leading us through the different elements of architecture .
PaulVDV (21657) 2014-07-12 15:23
The curving road and the track in the middle of it lead us well to the beautiful Market Hall and the Clock Tower.
The weather in England seems to be very beautiful. You don't want to know how the weather has been here during the past week.
I've always thought that Darlington was a romantic place to live :)
Best regards, Paul

Good pov with this street and the Fg to give depth at your view , I like the depth result, nice architecture, perfect sharpness, tfs.
CLODO (29914) 2014-07-13 0:21
A good perspective with no deformation due to the wide lens to drive us in the city and discover the railways station and the towerunder a bright sunshine.
marabu61 (8063) 2014-07-13 3:23
A postcard view indeed. Superb use of the curved street as a leading line towards the belfry at the back. That building somehow looks distinctively like an old railway station, fitting for an old railway town. Superb colors and gorgeous sky.
have a great sunday

You couldn't have had a better lead line than that coloured, brick path to the railway station and clock tower. It is a beautifully composed photograph, with great depth and fine textures.
Have a lovely day,

The curve of the road makes these picture very nice.
The Railway museum and the tower are a very nice addition on these nice picture.
Sharpness and clarity are wonderful.
Also nice depth and perspective.

The vertical format was perfect for this scene with the curving road leading the eye to the tower. The inclusion of some of the modern architecture on the left provided since contrast for the more traditional buildings in the shot. The lighting and color is great as is the sharpness and detail.

great to see you back posting a new photo!
we miss you around here my friend!!!
so this is off the beaten track eh?
good for you to show it to us than.
and you mentioned the clock tower - its beautiful!
looks totally brand new although i can guess its not.
same with the building on the right - everything looks so pristine and 'right out of the box' sort of speak :)
you have yourself a fine day for photography too, love the wispy clouds and blue sky colors.
excellent exposure and light as always.
see you around!

This is beautiful,a town I have to admit I did not know, but one I am very pleased to learn of through this fantastic shot. The colored path curves so ell into the scene and draws the eye in to explore further, and my eye is instantly drawn to that fascinating clock tower. It doesn't even look like a building I would expect to find anywhere in the uk, more like something from a mountain town of Austria. The whole composition is just beautiful.
Thanks as always.

Hello Mariusz - Funny, I would never have considered that Darlington had much to recommend it but I can see from your shot I am quite wrong. You have found and produced a lovely shot with excellent details and a very attractive airy and open feel. The colours are nice and delicate and of special note the pretty, curved walkway makes a super feature here.

A pleasant street picture with the long curve of the street leading up to the tower. A very nice picture!

Hello Mariusz, again here after a short vacation. Very good picture of this beautiful and interesting composition, very well captured in this postcard pretty with sharpness, depth, light, color and quality. Excellent and interesting job well done, congratulations my friend. Thanks for sharing.

You have a wonderful ability to find interesting places in towns which are not always all that popular or associated with beauty in themselves and this is a perfect example.
I love the way you have composed this shot using your wide angle lens, so that the very attractive clocktower stands out beautifully but still does not dominate the whole picture. The lead-in from the curvature of the road (accentuated by the wet line up its centre) is just perfect and the clocktower is nicely balanced by the large building on the right. Yes, this is a very fine composition into which you have clearly put some considerable thought!
The light and the colours are gorgeous, your exposure perfect and the details and sharpness exquisite.

Very nice capture from Darlington.
A perfect lecture for good pov. Your choice of portrait format fits well to the captured scenery.

Ciao dear Mariusz
Love the use of the vertical frame and how you've use the vertical curves to guide the eye into the frame. The colours are wonderfully vivid and the patterned pavement adds to the graphism.
I hope you're enjoying the sunshine there.
ikeharel (55332) 2014-07-15 8:09
Good evening Mariusz,
The curve on the pavement leading the view towards the clock-tower, a small Big-Ben...
An excelent view against the blue sky, people taken advantage of a sunny day, and added vivid tone to the scene.
Cricri (104461) 2014-07-15 11:08
Bon format verticale qui accentue ( je trouve) la courbe avec le tracé jusque la tour, belle réalisation, lumière et couleurs

Fajny zakret, ulica pieknie prowadzi do ciekawej wiezy.
Szkoda, ze ostrosc troche siadla na tym glownym obiekcie.
POV i kompozycja jak nienaganna, kolorystyka tez.
danos (85187) 2014-07-16 5:57
very nice the view of this well chosen section of Darlington town with the Clock Tower of the Market hall to dominating on the backdrop of the photo.
The pavement adds depth and perspective in the image.Excellent the light and the colour management of the scene.
rychem (21699) 2014-07-16 20:49
Zgadzam się z innymi, dobrze wykorzystałeś tę krzywą chodnika, a architektura piękna, też nie przeszedłbym obojętnie :)

!.Like the way you have used the curvy foot path to lead the depth into the view where the grand clock tower & market hall stand as the most impressive structures in town. Looks a wonderful uncrowded place to wander around in, filled by vivid detail and lovely rich colour tones and very appealing to the eyes. The bright yellow is important element because the splash of colour lifts the whole scene with lots more to feast the eye that makes for a more interesting image. A pleasure to see, excellent shot and tfs
PS: 7kg of photo equipment is normal to me, leaving base at 0300 in a cold morning tracking for abt 3hours at normal pace along the same path as the miners did just to catch the first light at 0600. Quick shootings followed before the light became so intense near the crater rim. Tx to your interest
Have a great day,
John_F_Kennedy (42062) 2014-07-17 6:12
I like the POV and the perspective here, a very pleasing view through the curved walkway. Well done.
adramad (36959) 2014-07-17 7:59
A very attractive composition, with this low, which begins on the street, whose curvature, leads us to view the fantastic building, topped by the magnificent tower of beauty, the presence of the people and the absence of cars makes us feel the place as very calm and relaxed.
Very good brightness and sharpness, with beautiful colors.
Well seen and done better. I like it
Have a good day.

Very good lights ambiance

cześć Mariusz, bardzo ciekawa ta wieża ratuszowa, przypomina Big Ben. ładny ten budynek po prawej i hala targowa. Ale najbardziej przykuwa uwage ten zakręt, bardzo dobrze go wykorzystałes. Super kompozycja i jak zawsze fantastyczna ostrość i kolory. Ciekawe miejsce i całkiem nieznane, nawet jak widac tubylcom.

Funny play with the words, call my attention before reading your note, then watching the capture, the tower ( I know also the curve) is the most interesting
Like you manage to capture also the flowers at the left
Good balanced vertical capture
You are quite right, I am not interested in football but of the city and the people before and during the match, was fun taken photos and videos, cached incredible fan scenes

Mriusz, I really like the perspective on your picture, great point of view, great extension to the panoramic view and great moment of active life captured..a fine work as usual!!

fajny pionowy kadr w ktorym zmiesciles sporo tematow. Wieza z zegarem przyciaga uwage. No tak, tam zbudowano pierwsza linie kolejowa do Stockton. Interesujaca stara architektura. Dobre zdjecie i prezentacja.
Waylim (25182) 2014-07-24 10:57
Beautiful shot and the vertical format works well to avoid some of hte stuff that you don't want on the side. The tire tract from the traffic is not ideal but you use it to your advantage as a lead in. Beautiful detiail, good depth good colors with excellent details.
adores (35693) 2014-07-29 16:18
A very good shot! I like a lot the pattern of the pavement and the curve, leading us to the clock tower in background. Great colours also!

I like your p.o.v with the road turning left adding depth to the picture snd leading our sight to the clock tower. Interesting building, godd light and colors.

Thanks to your post, I am learning about this town. Normally I thought I have a fair bit of idea about the twons in England, thanks to following their football league (& each town has at least one team in the various leagues)...but I don't remember a Darlington team & hence the town!
Lovely POV with the path curving away, but distinctly leading us to the clock tower and the market hall, which looks beautiful in good light & under the blue sky!
PS : Have you read the book titled "The Map That Changed the World"? Its a very interesting read, about Geological maps and certain areas of England where you might have been
tatadalou (6069) 2014-10-05 2:35
The curve of the road gives a nice perspective to the clock tower. Fine composition of this town.
