Photographer’s Note
I've been experimenting with some black and white images recently and though I should post this one to get people's response. Does it work? Unfortunately the sun was behind the arch itself, casting a dark shadow over the beach, but by de-saturating the image, I though it added to the mood of the picture. The scene itself was crystal clear, but lacked the colour of summer sun (it was freezing that day!). I have another colour image of the far chalk hill (Swyre Head) elsewhere on my profile, taken on a windier day. The colours on that are much better.
I absolutely LOVE this place, as it has a tremendous sense of peace and calm about it. One has to walk for about 15 minutes form the car park to get to see it properly, but the view is breathtaking and well-worth the arduous trundle. The area is also rich in fossils and other unusual coastal features, and is affectionately known as the Jurassic Coast.

This image gives me a cold, sad and desolate feeling. I really think that b&w adds to this mood. Honestly I like this photo but I don't get a happy feeling when I look at it. I pulled you photo off the web and messed with the levels in Photoshop. Check out the workshop I did and tell me what you think. I hope this helps.
