THE CHURCH IS NEAR BUT THE ROAD IS ICY THE BAR IS FAR BUT WE WILL WALK CAREFULLY.
Signpost for the Rugglestone Inn in Widecombe, Devon. Very much worth the walk as the food and drink was some of the best we have had in ages.

Nicely spotted. I think I could manage that hike.

I know the Rugglestone well, as my parents used to live in Devon. In the '70s and '80s, it had no bar, just a serving hatch, and you sat in the parlour, or in the field opposite. I think it's been gentrified a bit by now, which is a shame, though as you say it's still worth a visit. As to your photograph, I like the harmonious colours, but personally would have cloned or cropped that red arrow away, as it disrupts the colour tones and that beautiful lichen on the post.
